SUMMARY Working under general supervision, the Multi-Skilled HVAC Technician performs support functions for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning in a retail merchandise supply chain facility. The Multi-Skilled HVAC Technician also provides maintenance support in another area of maintenance. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The support mentioned above includes, but is not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities. • Maintains and repairs air conditioning/heating units, cooling towers, boilers, heat exchangers, and environmental control computer systems along with related components. • Assists other technicians in the performance of maintenance activities and/or provides training/guidance. • Electronically logs scheduled inspection reports of the operating equipment, fixed building equipment and building structures, maintenance, repairs and other records and schedules. • Adheres to all operational, loss prevention and safety standards which includes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). • Performs other duties as assigned. • HVAC Technician performs highly diversified duties including installs, repairs, troubleshoot and maintenance to a variety of equipment including, air conditioning, electric motors, boilers, heating units, heat pumps, compressors, burners, intake and exhaust fans, economizers, capacity controls, flame safeguard controls, air driers cleaning coils, electrical checks, airflow measurements, refrigerant checks and water sources heating. • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments. • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties. • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas. • Completes service work orders and writes detailed information on work orders for proper invoicing. • Follows proper departmental work order submittal process. • Follows all company department policies and procedures. • Including but not limited to safe driving, timesheet submittal, ordering parts, customer service and responding to service calls. • Maintain tools and instruments. • Use your experience and intellect to solve complex problems. • Deal professionally with internal customers concerning their individual needs. • Pass your knowledge and experience on to upcoming technicians. • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults of HVAC systems. • The position lifts heavy objects, up to 50 lbs. • The employee lifts pushes, pulls, or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles. ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES In addition to the HVAC core duties and responsibilities mentioned above, the Multi-Skilled HVAC Technician performs maintenance and repair support for another area of the facility, including ANY ONE or more of the following. • Mobile equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, scissor lifts and personnel carts. Experience using mobile equipment required. • Electronic components of equipment such as balers, printer/appliers, scales, barcode scanning systems, automatic guided vehicles, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). • Electrical equipment such as substations, power panels, lighting panels, generators, and motors. BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques and tools used in troubleshooting, repairing and testing all forms of HVAC systems and related components. • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and back-flow prevention devices certifications preferred. • Experience using mobile equipment required (refresher training upon hire). • Trade school certification in electrical preferred.
