Journeyman HVAC - Plant Maintenance (Full Time, Days)

POSITION SUMMARY: The Journeyman HVAC works under the direction of the Lead Journeyman HVAC. This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing all of Enloe Health’s HVAC and Refrigeration systems on all campuses. Responsibilities include but are not limited to repairing HVAC units, Refrigeration repair, knowledge of energy management systems, working with outside vendors. The special nature of this position may require working all shifts, any day of the week and holidays, and will be required to work with other trades such as plumbing, electrical, and boiler operators to ensure proper operations of all equipment. This position also requires working a weekend rotation and when needed to perform Engineering Tech duties. EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE: Minimum: Three years’ experience in repair and maintenance techniques. Desired: Two years’ experience in hospital facilities maintenance One year experience with energy management systems LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: Minimum: Current California Driver’s License Eligible to be insured under the Medical Center’s Liability Policy with DMV Report (and minimum age 21) EPA Certification (tracked by department) Desired: Certification in building trades or hospital maintenance experience SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES: The position requires knowledge of building maintenance techniques, equipment and operation of plumbing, HVAC, sanitation, refrigeration, electrical systems, some carpentry, fire and safety regulations and procedures. Ability to follow controls and wiring schematics. Ability to braze, solder. Ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems with little supervision. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position. A Journeyman needs to be a highly trained HVAC technician who installs and repairs HVAC systems. Their duties include assessing the limitations of the building to make recommendations, establishing new systems, and making repairs to existing ones. Their responsibilities also include providing regular maintenance to keep the system working efficiently.
