Summary We are seeking a skilled HVAC Compressor Technician to support plant operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC systems, with a focus on compressor units and chillers. This role is critical to ensuring optimal climate control and equipment performance across production facilities. The technician will work closely with maintenance and production teams to uphold safety, efficiency, and uptime standards. Responsibilities • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on HVAC systems, including compressors, chillers, air handlers, and pneumatic controls. • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues in HVAC and chiller systems. • Monitor system performance and conduct inspections to identify potential failures or inefficiencies. • Support installation and commissioning of new HVAC and chiller infrastructure and upgrades. • Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs. • Ensure compliance with OSHA and internal safety protocols. • Collaborate with production and facilities teams to minimize downtime and support operational goals. • Assist with emergency repairs and participate in on-call rotations as needed. Required Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent. • Minimum 3 years of experience in HVAC maintenance, with a focus on compressor and chiller systems. • Familiarity with refrigerant recovery, ductwork, and control systems. • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints. • EPA Section 608 Certification (Type II or Universal). • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. • Basic computer skills for maintenance logging and reporting. Preferred Qualifications • Technical certification in HVAC or related field. • Experience with Trane, Carrier, or similar commercial HVAC and chiller systems. • Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) and PLC interfaces. • Familiarity with maintenance management software (e.g., Rippling, CMMS). Work Environment • Work is performed in a production plant environment with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels. • May require climbing ladders, working at heights, and lifting heavy equipment. • Use of PPE is mandatory in designated areas. This position is accountable for identifying problems, completing service requests, and making repairs in order to maintain the material and aesthetic condition of the communities. The Maintenance Technician works in accordance with operating and safety standards, ensuring requests and repairs are made in a reliable, timely manner to residents’ satisfaction; anticipating and evaluating potential problems; and then proactively develops plans to counter challenges. In this role, you will be accountable for supervising the maintenance team and providing support as necessary. Additionally, periodic travel to sister properties will be expected in order to oversee personnel and monitor ongoing projects. Candidates must demonstrate prior supervisory experience and furnish satisfactory professional references. Job duties of a maintenance supervisor include overseeing daily maintenance operations, coordinating work schedules for staff, ensuring that all equipment and systems are functioning properly, and managing preventative maintenance programs. The supervisor is responsible for monitoring repairs, evaluating completed work for quality and compliance, and maintaining records of maintenance activities. Additionally, they work closely with other departments to address facility needs, uphold safety standards, and implement improvements to enhance overall efficiency. Effective communication and leadership skills are essential as the supervisor guides the team, resolves issues promptly, and supports continuous training and development. Bilingual is a plus but not mandatory.
