Job Description: HVAC/R Service Technician Levels:, Journeyman, Senior and Master Department: Commercial WE ARE LOOKING FOR EXPERIENCED TECHNICIANS TO SERVICE AMARILLO, TEXAS AND SURROUNDING AREAS PAY RANGE: $28.00 - $42.00 PER HOUR, DOE COMMERCIAL REFRIGERATION EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED. COMMERCIAL KITCHEN EQUIPMENT/HOT SIDE EXPERIENCE A PLUS. Job Summary The technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration systems and kitchen equipment in commercial and industrial environments. Strong knowledge of HVAC/R systems, technical problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in varying conditions are essential for this role. The technician works closely with engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards. Duties and Responsibilities • Perform routine maintenance, such as changing filters, cleaning coils, and checking refrigerant levels, etc. • Diagnose and troubleshooting problems, identify issues like leaks, electrical malfunctions, and mechanical failures. • Install and repair system components. • Install a variety of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems, including but not limited to air conditioning units, heating systems, ventilation systems, reach-in coolers, walk-in coolers, refrigeration equipment and kitchen cooking equipment. • Follow blueprints and installation instructions to correctly place and configure equipment. • Install and set up new HVAC systems, ductwork, piping, electrical wiring, and refrigerant lines according to system specifications. • Position and mount equipment such as rooftop units, thermostats, and other controls for heating, cooling, and ventilation systems. • Ensure systems and all their components operate correctly, including airflow, refrigerant levels, temperature controls, pressure levels, amperage, etc. • Conduct system start-ups and performance test in accordance with the manufactures specifications. • Follow all company, state, and federal safety protocols and guidelines, including those related to working with refrigerants, electrical components, and ventilation systems. • Properly handle, install, and dispose of refrigerants, ensuring compliance with environmental safety standards. • Work with clients, contractors, engineers, managers, dispatchers and other tradespeople while performing this job. • Perform service calls and clearly communicate with clients about the work being performed and address any questions that they may have. • Communicate with customers and supervisors to ensure that the installation meets their specifications and expectations. • Maintain accurate records of all installations, including materials used, hours worked, and any issues encountered. • Provide written reports and documentation to dispatch and managers detailing installation progress and system performance. • Attend training sessions and classes, either on the job or through a trade school program, to expand knowledge of HVAC systems, including regulations and safety protocols. Requirements and Qualifications • All qualified candidates must complete a pre-employment drug screen, motor vehicle (MVR) check, and background check. Additionally, candidates must maintain an insurable driving record as determined by the company’s insurance provider. • Driver’s license must be registered in the state that you will be working in. • For jobs in the state of Texas you will need to be TDLR Certified. • Need to have Universal EPA 608 Certification for handling refrigerants or working towards getting it. • Must be prepared to handle emergency repair calls and may be required to work on weekends or after regular business hours. • Proficient in commercial HVAC/R systems and kitchen equipment, including knowledge of electrical wiring, piping, and ductwork installation. • Must own your own tools to perform the job. • The company will provide transportation and certain tools that you will be responsible for. • EPA Certification for handling refrigerants or working towards getting it. (required for refrigeration system repairs). • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams. • May ask for references from previous employment. Skills: • Excellent customer service and communication skills. • Ability to manage time efficiently and work independently. • Basic electrical and plumbing skills related to HVAC/R systems and kitchen equipment. • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
