HVAC Technician

This position is looking for people in the Kalispell, Eureka, Whitefish area. The HVAC Mechanic (Technician) shall be responsible for performing routine maintenance and service repairs on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems. Shall also be responsible for the installation of new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines. In addition, this position will be expected to perform light general maintenance on various building maintenance needs to include gates, generators, some plumbing, drinking fountains etc. as the supervisor directs. General Workplace Summary of Expectations: • Technicians shall examine their assigned PMs for the upcoming month at least 5 working days prior to the 1st of the next month. Technicians shall notify the Service Manager of any issues with the schedule or assigned work orders. • Technicians shall notify the Service Manager whenever scheduled work will not be completed per schedule and this notification shall take place immediately upon recognition of the issue. Technicians shall ensure the receipt of notification from Service Manager if notification is not done verbally (i.e., text message or email). If Service Manager is not available, technician must also notify the alternative contact designated by the Service Manager. • Technicians shall be responsible for coordinating their own lodging. • Technicians shall be responsible for coordinating their own equipment rentals (i.e. vertical lift platform). • Technicians shall be responsible for creating their own daily schedule in support of the monthly schedule, including determination of their own departure and arrival times, such to maximize the facility availability (07:00-16:00) for the completion of work, to include any overtime hours as needed to complete work per monthly schedule. • Technicians shall be responsible for monitoring, scheduling, and executing their own vehicle maintenance. Vehicle maintenance shall take place on scheduled Admin Days. Admin Days are defined as a non-holiday weekday when no client site work is scheduled. Technician shall notify the Service Manager of any necessary vehicle maintenance impacting safety or security of the vehicle (ie locks, brakes, tires). • Technicians shall share a vehicle when working at the same location for the purpose of minimizing fuel and vehicle maintenance costs. HVAC Summary • Assists in troubleshooting, diagnosis, service and repair of heavy commercial air conditioning and multi-zone heating and cooling systems. • Test electrical currents or components for continuity, using electrical test equipment. • Test pipe or tubing joints or connections for leaks, using pressure gauge or soap-and-water solution. • Join pipes or tubing to equipment and to fuel, water, or refrigerant source, to form complete circuit. • Reassemble and test equipment following repairs. • Repair or replace defective equipment, components, or wiring. • Layout and connect electrical wiring between controls and equipment, according to wiring diagrams, using electrician’s hand tools. • Install, connect, and adjust thermostats, humidistats and timers, using hand tools. • Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area. • Inspect and test systems to verify system compliance with plans and specifications or to detect and locate malfunctions. • Perform Preventive Maintenance Tasks for upkeep of systems as per checklists • Perform other related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION Required: • High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) Certificate. • Knowledge of acceptable maintenance procedures and understanding of occupational safety and health regulations. • Must have experience in HVAC, air handling, deionizer water, chilled water condenser, hot water, compressed air, electronic gate systems, and boilers. • Must have and maintain state HVAC licenses/certifications. • Must have a valid state driver’s license with no major infractions. • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an HVAC Mechanic. • Reliable transportation to work. Preferred: • Experience working under a federal contract or military experience • Boiler experience a plus • Experience working in a government facility Additional Qualifying Factors As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results. Security Clearance Requirements • It is mandatory that all Contractor personnel working onsite at federal facilities meet federal government security clearance standards.
