Job Description: As an HVAC Technician, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining HVAC systems in residential and commercial settings. You will play a crucial role in ensuring optimal indoor air quality and comfort for our clients. Salary $27.81 - $34.90 Hourly Location Eugene, OR Job Type Full Time Job Number 2024-00613 School/Department Facilities Management Opening Date 01/13/2025 Closing Date 6/25/2025 11:59 PM Pacific Position Summary This is a full-time position 12 months of the year (260 days) Experience in troubleshooting and repair of institutional kitchen equipment such as: • Walk in cooler/freezers • Commercial dishwashers/sink disposal systems. • Commercial cooking steam/convection ovens Other system knowledge that will put you ahead: • Package unit/heat pump repair • Large multizone unit/TU box troubleshooting experience. The purpose of this position is to maintain and repair refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, heating, pneumatic, and kitchen appliance mechanical equipment and associated electrical circuitry. This position also maintains and repairs low voltage electronic temperature control systems throughout the district. Essential Functions: • Inspect, diagnose, and repair refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, heating, pneumatic and kitchen appliance mechanical equipment and associated electrical circuitry. • Test and measure pressure, temperature, airflow, electrical voltages, amp draws and ohm readings, refrigerant leaks, fan motor rpm's, and refrigeration compressor oil levels to determine source of malfunction. • Operates recovery tanks and vacuum pumps relevant to adding and evacuating air conditioning refrigerant. • Monitor and modify building temperatures for comfort and efficiency by using computer based heating and cooling monitoring and reprogramming. • Repair and/or or replace electrical, and electronic equipment to maintain temperature comfort levels at minimum energy costs. • Maintain equipment and supply inventories; keep records of maintenance schedules, work performed, and supplies used. • Prioritize and schedule work according to nature and severity of problem. • Provide estimates of repair costs. • Remain informed on technological developments, industry advancements, trade qualifications, and refined application techniques. • May be called upon to direct the work of HVAC temporary personnel. • Travel to and from building sites and district facilities building as needed. • Maintains regular and prompt attendance. • Performs other related duties as assigned Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Journey level knowledge of the operation, maintenance and repair of refrigeration, air conditioning, heating, pneumatic, kitchen appliance equipment and computer based electronic temperature control systems. • Ability to operate tools such as electrical testing instruments, air flow meters, power and hand tools, pressure gauge manifolds, refrigerant leak detectors, and oxy-acetylene and arc welding equipment. • Ability to read and understand diagrams and repair manuals, and to convey technical specifications orally and in writing. • Ability to apply safety practices in equipment use and service. • Ability to oversee and direct the work of seasonal and temporary workers Minimum Qualifications • Three years of journey level experience in HVAC and refrigeration repair. • Possession of a valid State of Oregon driver's license. • Possession of a valid EPA approved Refrigerant license. • Possession of a valid State of Oregon issued Limited Energy Technician (LEB) license.
