Commercial HVAC Service Technician

Overview We are seeking a skilled Commercial HVAC Service Technician to join our team. This role involves providing expert maintenance, repair, and installation services for a variety of HVAC systems in commercial settings. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, field service experience, and the ability to interpret schematics and HVAC design plans. A valid driver’s license is required, along with experience in construction, plumbing, refrigeration, Mini split heat pumps and commercial appliance repair. The technician will be responsible for ensuring optimal operation of air conditioning, refrigeration, boilers, VRF, Mini-splits and other mechanical systems across multiple client sites. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects utilizing your HVAC/R expertise and mechanical skills. Duties • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on commercial HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration systems (including ammonia refrigeration), and related equipment. • Diagnose issues using tools such as ohmmeters and other diagnostic equipment; interpret schematics and HVAC design plans to identify solutions. • Repair or replace faulty components such as compressors, motors, valves, and electrical wiring; conduct equipment repair and welding as needed. • Install new HVAC equipment following manufacturer specifications and industry standards; assist with system start-up and commissioning. • Conduct plumbing work related to HVAC systems including pipe fitting and leak repairs. • Maintain detailed service records and documentation of all work performed. • Ensure all work complies with safety standards and local codes; identify potential safety hazards during field service visits. • Assist with property maintenance tasks related to HVAC systems when necessary. Experience • Proven service technician experience in commercial HVAC or related mechanical fields. • Strong knowledge of HVAC/R systems including refrigeration (Ammonia refrigeration preferred), air conditioning, boilers, and appliance repair. • Familiarity with construction processes, schematics interpretation, HVAC design principles, and property maintenance practices. • Mechanical knowledge encompassing equipment repair, welding, maintenance procedures, and boiler operation. • Experience working in field service environments with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems efficiently. • Additional skills such as plumbing, refrigeration handling, use of ohmmeters for electrical diagnostics, welding techniques, and general equipment repair are highly desirable. • Prior experience with HVAC/R systems or mechanic experience is advantageous; a valid driver’s license is required for travel between job sites.
