Job Brief: Duties: Maintain, service, repair and replace all heating and cooling equipment including hot water and steam boilers, air handler, emergency generators, and chillers. • Test, locate and repair damaged heating and cooling equipment. Troubleshoot and install new heater and cooling systems; inspect newly installed heating and cooling equipment to ensure safe and satisfactory functioning. Maintain, repair and adjust building heating ventilation and maintenance equipment. • Redesign and rewire heating and cooling systems in municipal buildings as necessary. Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used and associated costs. • Operate and maintain heating and cooling service truck. Make routine inspections or heating and cooling systems in all municipal buildings. • May be required to work evenings and weekends in emergency situations. • May assist in a variety of other building maintenance activities including electrical, carpentry, painting and plumbing. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of methods, materials, tools equipment and procedures used in the repair of heating and cooling systems. Principles of heating and cooling system repair, maintenance and system design. Use and maintenance requirements of tools and equipment used in heating and cooling system maintenance activities. Assess and troubleshoot a wide range of heating and cooling systems and equipment. Understand and interpret blueprints, schematics and diagrams. One year journeyman level experience in installation, repair, replacement and maintenance of heating and cooling systems, equipment and components. EDUCTION/REQUIRED LICENSE & CERTIFICATIONS: Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems installation, maintenance and repair. Possession of, or ability to obtain, and appropriate, valid drivers license. Possession of or ability to obtain, HVAC Certification within twelve months of employment with the City of Jackson.
