HVAC Apprentice

SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE: The Apprentice will spend time training under other HVAC professionals in order to develop a well-rounded knowledge of plumbing and piping systems. The Apprentice will perform entry level general plumbing duties as required with supervision. This position requires regular overnight travel for up to 5 days at a time. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: These duties are not listed in any order of priority but will be weighted for performance management purposes. • Promote safety as the core value at TATRO. • Develop a general understanding of the basics of mechanical HVAC systems and learn to apply them on the job. • Act as a helper with the installation and repair of mechanical HVAC systems by performing basic duties as directed by your supervisor. • Maintain equipment, tools and company vehicles in clean and good working condition. • Ensure job site cleanliness and organization through all phases of the service process. • Prepare work sites as directed. • Perform general labor tasks such as sweeping, cleaning, delivering, loading and unloading, etc. • Other duties as required. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS: • Minimum of 18 years old. • Valid Driver s License. • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test. • Basic mathematical skills. • Basic computer/tablet skills, including Microsoft Office products and email services. • Prior HVAC experience preferred. • Must have a willingness to learn. • Must be willing to travel when needed. • General construction knowledge is preferred but not required. Summary of Position Service Technician: Perform thorough maintenance & repair on all ages of equipment, with the ability to accurately diagnose heating and air conditioning system issues. Must be able to recognize potential breakdown issues before they happen and make the appropriate recommendations to the customer. Must be able to discuss various options for the clients regarding repair or replacing their system. • Minimum Qualifications:* • 3+ years of experience with residential HVAC maintenance or service repairs, including heat pumps, gas furnaces, air conditioning units, etc. or a Tech Builder program graduate • HVAC Mech IV license required- (must get within 30 days of hire, we'll pay for your passing test!) • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills • EPA Universal or Type II EPA certification • Knowledgeable and skilled in the safe use and maintenance of required tools • High School Diploma or GED • Basic computer skills • Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in the English language Preferred Qualifications: • Additional years of experience with residential HVAC maintenance or service repairs, including heat pumps, gas furnaces, air conditioning units, etc. • NATE Certification • HVAC education (Associates, Diploma, Certificate) or Manufacturer Training Compensation & Benefits • $25.00 – $35.00/hour based on experience and skills (plus spiffs & bonuses) • Medical, dental, vision, short term disability, long term disability, life, 401k with 4% company match • 2-3 weeks paid vacations and 6 paid holidays Work Hours Monday - Friday 7:30 am-4:30pm (flexible end times based on business needs) • Other Requirements* : A valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and the ability to pass a criminal background check It is our policy not to discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, sex, disability, religion, or age in its programs or employment practices.
