Maintenance Technician II (County Wide) Pay Plan: 109 - $30,998 minimum salary Distinguishing Features of the Position (Summary) Performs technical work in preventive maintenance and/or repair of assigned county wide HVAC systems. Duties include preventive maintenance, repairing and installing computerize, electrical, mechanical components on HVAC systems. Positions in this class perform routine preventive maintenance, identify needed corrective actions to resolve discrepancies; and maintain preventive and repair document logs and records. Tests HVAC systems for continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, identify pressures of refrigerant and refrigerant or oil leaks using testing devices, such as refrigeration gauges, psychrometer, HVAC thermometers, ohmmeters, voltmeters, to ensure compatibility and safety of system. Inspects HVAC systems equipment and components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Maintains tools and machinery in good condition and uses all tools carefully and as instructed; may be expected to operate heavy equipment on occasion. Maintains assigned inventory; requests quotes for needed materials, equipment, and supplies. Provides assistance and information to employees, foreman, managers, vendors, local businesses, and/or other interested parties regarding assigned HVAC functions. Assists maintenance personnel with problems and ensures timely completion of work; works with power tools in a safe manner, helps with work orders requested, keeps work areas clean. Responsible for assigned week of emergency after hour calls and stand-by duties. Additional Functions Performs other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED, with three (3) years of experience performing technical and/or repair work with HVAC mechanical, electrical and computerize systems; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License, EPA Certification and State HVAC Certified Technician License. ADA Compliance Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert medium physical effort in medium work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of heavy weight (50 - 100 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion at a keyboard or work station.
