Facilities Technician - HVAC

Now Hiring 1st Shift Facilities Technician - HVAC Time to put those maintenance skills to work! PDS Tech is seeking a skilled Facilities Technician, to support one of our client’s advanced manufacturing operations. The perfect candidate for this position is results oriented, team player, self-starting, dynamic, flexible, and strongly motivated to succeed and deliver. Location: Anderson, SC Employment Type: Contract to Hire Pay: $34-$40/Hourly DOE (weekly pay) Shift: 7AM to 3PM Monday - Friday / Rotating Saturdays (Occasional OT depending on workload) POSITION SUMMARY The focused area of responsibility will be lead for HVAC systems. Must be flexible in working day-to-day assignments to support the needs of the facilities. Support all projects assigned. Take the initiative to identify and lead improvement opportunities. Perform all jobs safely, efficiently, and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire plant in the areas of Safety, Quality, Reliability. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Safely performs tasks of the highest complexity within the maintenance, service and repair of HVAC systems and their associated components. • Performs diagnostics, maintenance and service repairs on all types of HVAC as well as complex modifications of associated systems and components. • Will receive and evaluate work orders and requests, investigate problems for solutions and complete all necessary repairs/maintenance on assigned cooling system equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's specifications and blueprints. • Services and repairs heating, ventilating, air conditioning systems, and temperature control units’ systems utilizing knowledge of heating and refrigeration theory. • Repair leaks, leak test & add Freon gas to build up prescribed operating pressure on all systems. • Uses various fault detection and diagnostic measurement tools to test and inspect equipment including, but not limited to, air flow, static pressure, fluid flow, refrigerant diagnostics and wet/dry bulb temperature. • Repair and service multiple types of air-conditioners, ranging from Standard to split/package units, etc. • Regularly monitor for proper operation of pressures and temperatures. Records observations and acts to correct deficiencies. • Repair and service temperature-controlled units of different manufacturers. • Ensures mechanical systems are operating at peak efficiency by inspection equipment for operating efficiency and safety standards. • Installs replacement parts according to OEM specifications and safety guidelines. Maintain logs and records to document maintenance and repair activities. • Reports any unsafe condition or act immediately to supervision. • Responsible for housekeeping and 5S in his or her respective area of work or areas as directed by the departmental supervisor. • Completes preventative maintenance in Hexagon issued by scheduler/planner, maintenance lead mechanic, supervisor or maintenance manager. • Uses CMMS Maintenance System to document work order. • Create, revise, and improve part kits working with salary planner/scheduler to build part kits into CMMS. • Records all parts needed for repairs to be performed and all parts used for repairs. • Reduce unplanned stoppages through effective Root Cause Analysis. • Keeps accurate record of downtime of plant equipment. Issues work requests for issues needing attention when equipment is down. • Cultivating (through active participation in the team) an environment that helps to build and strengthen the team concept and sets the culture of that Zero Safety Incidents, Zero Quality Defects, and Zero Preventable Stoppages is achievable. • Must be able to read blueprints and use measuring instruments. Must possess an understanding of electronic and mechanical components to troubleshoot and repair. • Understands that performing job tasks in a safe manner is the highest priority. • Reports any unsafe condition or act immediately to supervision or EHS team member. • Understands company safety. Initiates and acts as facilitator on the floor to promote those initiatives. • Responsible for housekeeping and 5S in his or her respective area of work or areas as directed by the departmental supervisor. • Must have strong internal and external customer service skills and be a team player. • Perform support tasks including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of facility related equipment. • Thorough understanding of cooling tower systems. • Thorough understanding of compressed air systems. • Must possess an understanding of electronic and mechanical components. • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. • Must have a basic knowledge of the safe use and care of hand and power tools. • Must be able to Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; compute ratio and percent and interpret bar graphs. • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. • Abides by Electrolux’s company rules, policies, and procedures. • Complies with all OSHA safety and health regulations. • Other duties as assigned. YOUR QUALIFICATIONS • Ability to communicate orally and in writing effectively with Managers, supervisors, and peers. • Safely comply with health, safety & environmental requirements education/work experience. • Associate degree in maintenance technology and/ or technical trade certificate a plus. • May be required to work weekends/shutdowns. • Must be able to operate a computer. • The appropriate candidate for this position is results oriented, team player, self-starting, dynamic, flexible, and strongly motivated to succeed and deliver. • Experience in Microsoft Office is a plus. • Ability to read and interpret documents & drawings and write detailed reports. • Excellent verbal communication and written skills. • Ability to lead others and experience in training others. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position is very active and requires frequent (4 to 12 hours) standing, walking (on concrete surfaces), bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, squatting, crawling, twisting, climbing, perform repetitive movements, and perform work from ground level to overhead, (Or otherwise awkward positions necessary to fix equipment). • Frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds for extended periods of time. • Lifting shoulder high up to 35 lbs. repetitively. • Ability to climb stairs and ladders, bend to 90 degrees repeatedly. • Ability to work in unusual or extreme elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. • Ability to work safely from a ladder. • Ability to operate a scissor lift, boom, and bucket lift and work at heights of up to 30 feet. • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. • Work will require very fine dexterity, tactile sensitivity, and extreme muscular control of the hands. The technician performs diagnostics, maintenance and service repairs on air- and water-cooled chillers, centrifugal chillers, rotary screw chillers and scroll chillers as well as complex modifications of associated systems and components. This role supports the production line and will follow production needs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Diagnoses, repairs, replaces, adjusts, and monitors controls on chillers, air conditioning, temperature control units and associated components for various manufacturers. • Troubleshoots and repairs chillers of all types. • Repairs components and performs complex modifications of mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and components, including compressors, motors, pumps, fans, piping, transducers, flow switches, low pressure chillers, economizers, variable speed drivers, etc. • Repair leaks, leak test & add Freon gas to build up prescribed operating pressure on all systems. • Uses various fault detection and diagnostic measurement tools to test and inspect equipment including, but not limited to, air flow, static pressure, fluid flow, refrigerant diagnostics and wet/dry bulb temperature. • Repair and service other types of air-conditioners, ranging from split/package units, water source units, etc. • Regularly monitors for proper operation of pressures and temperatures. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Experience in Microsoft Office is a plus. • 5 plus years’ experience of actual commercial/industrial HVAC experience as it relates to chiller systems as described in job overview • Ability to read and interpret documents & drawings and write detailed repair reports. • Excellent verbal communication and written skills. Ability to lead others and experience in training others in predictive maintenance equipment. • Certification from an HVAC Excellence accredited program or institute • Associate’s degree in industrial electronics technology and/ or technical trade certificate a plus.
