Power Plant Electrician

Req Id: 38119 Job Title: Power Plant Electrician City: West Lafayette Job Description: The SK2 Power Plant Electrician will perform a large portion of the 480 volt to 2400 volt system electrical maintenance and repairs at the Wade Utility Plant. The position works as part of the Instrumentation and Electrical Team and works closely with the I&E Techs to provide safe and reliable equipment operation and support. Position requires on-going specialized training in the controls, electrical and electronics field. Perform installation, maintenance, repairs and upgrades of electrical equipment, controls and systems. Troubleshoot and repair plant machinery and associated controls, including programable logic controllers, instrumentation and secondary distribution systems utilizing circuit schematics, blueprints and drawings. Subject to 24 hour callback and overtime as required. This position is on an "on-call" rotation requiring availability during that time and cell phone/pager contact with the Plant. Value diversity by working effectively with people from different viewpoints and backgrounds.For the SK3 Power Plant Electrician will serve as a team lead or recognized expert in the Wade Electrical and instrumentation Department. Work to achieve day-to-day objectives with major impact within the Wade Plant. Provide direction to other team members, which includes resource allocation and coordination of daily tasks or projects. Daily tasks, repairs, maintenance and projects are integral to the safe and reliable operation of the Wade Plant. Problems and issues faced are numerous and undefined, requiring detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation. Problems are difficult and moderately complex, and impact multiple areas of the Plant or involve multiple skilled crafts. Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experience and analysis of the issue. Responsible for making moderate to significant improvements of processes, systems or products to enhance performance level of area. Communicate with venders or internal contacts on matters of significant importance requiring some explanation or interpretation. Influence others to accept new concepts, practices and approaches. Has supervision responsibility over employees while serving as a "working supervisor" or lead person for projects or assigned tasks.
