Maintenance Electrical Specialist

The Maintenance Electrical Specialist is responsible for PLC work, being a technical adviser to the Maintenance Team, and reports directly to the Maintenance Manager. The electrical specialist will assist in troubleshooting, the repair and maintaining of all company-owned machinery including the repair and maintenance of the facility as needed. The electrical specialist will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance on the company owned equipment and facility. The electrical specialist will assist in training new maintenance personnel in the functions of our inventory management system (currently PLEX), stock removal forms, and the locations of important valves and switches. • Acts as Technical Advisor for the maintenance department. • PLC duties include writing, altering and teaching PLC programming to other maintenance techs. • Participates in startup meetings. • Help investigate equipment failure and difficult to diagnose faults. • Performs maintenance to ensure that machines and equipment are functioning according to specifications. • Establishes and coordinates the service schedule and supply of materials required to maintain machines and equipment in the prescribed condition. • Conducts maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of wide variety of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines, conventional machines, Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) controls and conveyor systems. • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines, following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications, troubleshooting malfunctions • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devises in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools, examining form and texture of parts. • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of repaired or equipment parts using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges. • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance. • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment. • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies’ inventories by checking stock to determine inventory levels, anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies, requesting orders, and verifying receipt. • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit • Provides maintenance information by answering questions and requests. • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. • Identifies unsafe operations and practices and reports the same to the Manager immediately. • Supports engineering activities. • Will fulfill maintenance tech duties outside of Electrical when needed, including weekend and shutdown support.
