SALARY The minimum salary is $25.730 per hour This position is eligible for overtime (non-exempt), if applicable. Pay Grade 519 This position is eligible to receive hazardous duty supplemental pay at $90/month ($0.52 per hour) upon hire. FILING DEADLINE DATE Open until filled GENERAL DESCRIPTION The purpose of this classification is to perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic systems. Repairs and maintains related equipment at LFUCG facilities. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent • Eight (8) years of related experience • Additional years of related education may substitute for years of related experience ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Responds, troubleshoots, and repairs electronic equipment such as pumps, motors (VFD's) motor control systems (PLC's), or other related equipment of less than 600 volts • Ensures that fire safety and security devices are working properly and maintained to prevent malfunctions • Diagnoses electrical problems and designs, modifies, and installs existing and new equipment • Performs basic electrical duties including install and repair of conduit and wiring, interprets blueprints, and uses a variety of hand and power tools • Orders and maintains electrical equipment inventory • Assists with new projects and repairs as needed and attends design meetings with engineers • Helps to size, layout, quote, install and maintain electrical equipment • Attends safety meetings to remain in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and LFUCG requirements • May supervise employees • Performs related work as assigned SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION Master's Electrician License issued by the State of Kentucky SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS • All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16 • Must be accessible for on-call duty HOW TO APPLY Submit LFUCG electronic application through lexingtonky.gov/jobs and attach/upload applicable documents to verify your education, training, certification/license(s), or DD214 (for military preference with appropriate discharge) by filing deadline date. Duties will be diverse and may include circuit analysis, circuit design, component selection, PCB layout, data collection, test development, test setup and execution, coding, etc. Will gain experience working on the stages of development and qualification of metering projects. This will include working with team members, research, design considerations and tradeoffs, practical experience in component selection and circuit design, test execution, and evaluation of test results. Final presentation will be made before the team, HR, and upper management highlighting activities and accomplishments from the term. Student Objectives/Responsibilities: • Create automated tests and data collection utilities • Work within a multidisciplinary team to design and develop custom test equipment. • Testing of hardware for compliance with national standards. • Execute testing of energy storage solutions and assist in processing and analyzing data. • Become familiar with equipment like oscilloscopes, network analyzers, DMMs, gauss meter, data acquisition devices, soldering irons, environmental chambers, and etc. • Participate in engineering development processes such as design reviews or DFMEAs. • Evaluate prototype assemblies for integration into new products. Education/Experience: A student working towards their Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering with an expected graduation date of August 2027 or later who can work fulltime hours on-site at our Lafayette, Indiana location Monday through Friday.
