Company is Based in Lexington, KY so projects after would be closer to the Lexington area. Responsibilities • Run conduit and hang fixtures. 3-4 inch EMT/Rigid conduit bending is a must • Pull wire and work collaboratively with a crew. • Read and interpret blueprints. • Journeyman level candidates should exhibit these skills, while helpers should have at least 1 year of commercial experience. Essential Skills • Experience in commercial and industrial electrical work. • Ability to run wire and conduit effectively. • Proficiency in reading blueprints. • A journeyman license is preferred but not required. Job Title: Electrical Designer Job Description The Electrical Designer will engage in various phases of planning, site evaluations, analytical designs, report preparation, and the creation of proposal and construction documentation and electrical plans as part of a project team. This position involves working on diverse projects with a wide range of project types and clients. Responsibilities • Design electrical projects, including creating electrical schematics, grid plan layouts, electrical power systems, lighting systems, protection and controls, and site and facility design. • Follow all company, client, and project design and drafting standards. • Plan and develop drawings for production work, including problem analysis, design layout, and calculations on non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity. • Execute a variety of electrical design assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques, including drawing sequence and presentation, sizing various system components, and refining rough sketches. • Implement changes to designs or sketches and apply redlines or mark-ups on ongoing projects. • Analyze reports, drawings, and tests to plan and design projects. • Interpret and incorporate design codes and specifications related to design requirements. • Review design drawings for quality assurance within scope, budget, and schedule. • Perform project tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines. • Compute volume calculations for conduit/grounding layouts, equipment and panel wiring diagrams, and relay panel schematics. • Organize and maintain all revisions of project drawings, plot files, and project-related information in a logical and well-structured manner. • Ensure clear and concise written and verbal communications as it relates to project client coordination. • Comply with all policies and standards. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in drafting/design with 7+ years of related experience, OR Associate degree with 8+ years of related experience, OR High School diploma with a minimum of 9 years of progressive detailing and design experience. • 7+ years of AutoCAD design experience. • Advanced ability to utilize 2D & 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings and designs. • Understanding of engineering calculations, design, and design systems. • Experience in substation and capital project design is preferred. Work Environment The position is based in a consulting, professional engineering firm environment with a team of approximately 15 engineers and project managers working in downtown Lexington. The role offers a flexible hybrid schedule, with three days in the office and two days working from home, after integration into the team. The office operates in a business casual dress code. Occasional site visits are required, with approximately 5% travel involving one-day visits locally with no overnight stays. The team is highly collaborative, both within the Lexington team and across the company. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lexington, KY.
