This position offers flexibility and an excellent benefits package. A state vehicle, laptop, cell phone are provided for work purposes and travel per diem reimbursements are offered when traveling away from the home base. This is a Monday through Friday position with no weekends! There is potential of working a condensed work week if it benefits the Electrical Commission. *Inspector license test prep assistance available for qualified candidate. About the role: The Electrical Inspector inspects electrical installations and residential and commercial new construction sites to ensure compliance with electrical rules and regulations and identify hazards to life or safety. Electrical Inspectors attend staff meetings and stay updated on the latest professional education. This position requires work in a wide variety of environments, both indoors and outdoors, including residential buildings, businesses, construction sites, and any other location where electrical installations may exist. The inspector is assigned a primary location based on a department building location, but the inspector is assigned a state vehicle and the equipment necessary to work from home. This position requires daily travel to inspection sites within an assigned portion of the state and may include occasional travel as needed outside that regularly assigned area. The boundaries of the assigned area may change to meet the needs of the Commission. Frequent travel on minimum maintenance roads and all types of weather conditions may be required. Because of the nature of the work, this position carries the risk of electrical shock.
