Location: Moscow Posting Context Statement: Position Overview: This position will perform journey-level maintenance, installation and repair of electrical and electronic systems and other specialized equipment. This is an essential position that will be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or university closure. Duties may include: • Interpret blueprints and drawings for electrical calculations to determine specifications and to calculate required materials and equipment • Maintain digital records of time, materials and other asset information • Plan the layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers and other components • Use equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, oscilloscopes, ammeters and test lamps • Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards and defects and to ensure compliance • Gather materials, prepare work area and maintain equipment and supplies needed for jobs • Review finished projects with client/customer; maintain records and reports of work status and completion according to established deadlines and expectations • Other duties as assigned Required Experience: • 6,000 hours working in an approved electrical apprenticeship program Required Education: • None Required Other: • Possess an Idaho Journeyman Electricians license or be able to acquire one within twelve months of hire • Possess a valid drivers license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university-owned vehicles • Be at least 18 years of age • Ability to respond to emergency calls within one hour and serve on weekend call-out duty on a regular rotation Additional Preferred: • Ability to operate a boom truck, line truck and forklift • Ability to operate computer programs to enter data and create spreadsheets Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: Must be able to: • Bend, stoop and work in awkward positions for several hours at a time • Climb and work from ladders, scaffolding and scissor lifts • Carry, lift or otherwise move items weighing up to 50 pounds • Work in confined spaces using equipment and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) • Work in inclement weather conditions • Participate in a medical surveillance program and respirator fit test Degree Requirement: Listed degree qualification is required at time of application FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Employee Category: Classified Pay Range: Commensurate with Experience Type of Appointment: _of_Appointment FTE: 1 Full Time/Part Time: Full Time Funding: A visa sponsorship is available for the position listed in this vacancy: Uncertain Posting Date: 04/17/2025 Closing Date: Open Until Filled: Yes Special Instructions to Applicants: First review date 5/01/25.
