Facilities Electrician

The pay range for this position is $31.32 - $35.43 per hour, DOE. The Missoula County Facilities Department is seeking a FACILITIES ELECTRICIAN to join their team. This position performs complex work as a professional electrician. Works on technical controls, and other systems to support communications sites, safety, security, power and environmental control systems throughout Missoula County. Performs troubleshooting of electrical equipment, devices and control systems including all phases of electrical work on AC & DC motors, generators, panelboards, lighting and control panels. Uses building management software to track trend and monitor maintenance issues. Provides project coordination and planning. Assesses and defines scope of work, reviews plans and drawings, oversees the work of vendors, and problem solves with the team. Coordinates with other trades on projects. Performs troubleshooting and testing of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) including panic alarms, electronic locks, all detention facility electronic operations, and alarm workstation monitoring, and lighting controls. Performs hardware installation, control cabinet construction, and software programming. Maintains documentation and information on all projects. Maintains data in Sharepoint and Dude solutions (Missoula County’s asset essentials software used to monitor equipment), and updates master spreadsheets. Installs and replaces electrical equipment, devices and control systems including design builds, control cabinet repairs and new construction. Installs high and low voltage wiring, raceways and supporting structures. Maintains and repairs technical and electrical building systems. Performs technical maintenance and repair to generators, switch gear and solar equipment at remote mountain transmitter site facilities in all weather conditions. Orders and maintains an inventory of technical and electrical supplies, parts and components. Ensures compliance with all department policies including the tool control policy. Makes recommendations on technical systems and attend meetings on projects throughout Missoula County. Provides technical input to department and county managers. • Requires a high school diploma, or GED certification. • Requires a Montana Commercial Journeyman Electrical license. • Requires two years of experience as a commercial or industrial journeyman electrician. • SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid Montana Driver's License. Work assignment in the Missoula County Detention Facility requires passing an extensive background check prior to completion of the probationary period. The work involves performing all manner of work associated with journeyman electrician status, exposing the employee to potentially life-threatening situations related to low and high voltage electricity. The work requires considerable physical activity, occasionally in adverse weather conditions. Requires frequent walking, stooping, bending, climbing of stairs and ladders, and lifting of moderate to very heavy objects (50 to 100 plus pounds) with the use of mechanical or people assists. Requires frequent work in cramped spaces, kneeling and crawling. The work requires the physical ability to operate a snowmobile (training will be provided), drive a four-wheel drive motor vehicle, walk or use snowshoes to access remote sites; and ability to operate a forklift. Work may be performed in inclement weather including during extreme weather conditions. Requires work outside of normal business hours. The employee will be required to serve in an on-call capacity on a rotational basis which requires carrying a cell phone. Requires work in a detention facility and may require contact with pre- and post-adjudicated state and county inmates posing a variety of security risks. Work may cause exposure to health hazards such as sewage and blood-borne pathogens.
