**Job Description** Job Summary The Electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME) is responsible for ensuring the operational excellence, reliability, safety, and performance of all electrical systems within Oracle's global data centers. This expert-level IC5 role covers the design, topology, troubleshooting, and optimization of complex critical electrical infrastructure and supports projects that enhance data center operations and capacity. The SME will partner with project teams and reliability engineers in the execution of system upgrades, expansions, and root-cause analyses, driving the highest levels of system uptime for Oracle's critical IT loads. Key Responsibilities + **Critical Electrical Systems Expertise:** Serve as the in-house authority on all critical electrical systems, including medium and low voltage power distribution, switchgear, UPS (uninterruptible power supply), generators, battery banks, PDUs (power distribution units), bus duct, transfer switches, grounding, and emergency systems. + **Electrical Topology & System Design:** Advise on the design and topology of electrical infrastructure, ensuring redundancy (N, N+1, 2N), resiliency, code compliance, and alignment with Oracle standards and best practices. + **Troubleshooting & Incident Response:** Lead advanced troubleshooting of electrical faults, operational incidents, and power quality issues. Provide tier 3 support for fault identification and root-cause analysis. + **Project Support:** Collaborate closely with engineering and project teams to develop, review, and execute detailed plans for electrical-related upgrades, expansions, retrofits, and lifecycle replacements. Ensure minimal risk to IT load. + **Reliability Engineering:** Implement and champion reliability programs, including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), and continuous improvement initiatives for electrical systems. + **Technical Documentation:** Maintain, develop, and review electrical SLDs (single line diagrams), operating procedures, test scripts, and commissioning plans. + **Standards & Bulletins:** Stay current with industry standards, OEM requirements, and emerging technologies to ensure all electrical installations and maintenance activities are compliant and up to date. + **Training & Knowledge Sharing:** Mentor and train data center operations teams and field technicians in electrical safety, system operation, and troubleshooting. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline strongly preferred; • *OR** completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship program with substantial experience in mission-critical environments (such as data centers); • *OR** equivalent relevant work experience and certifications. 8+ years of experience with critical electrical systems in large-scale data centers or mission-critical environments. Expert knowledge of electrical design, power system topology, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting. Advanced understanding of reliability engineering practices and performance analytics. Proven involvement in project teams from conceptual planning through commissioning and operation. Familiarity with BMS/SCADA/EMS for monitoring and analytics of electrical infrastructure. Outstanding problem-solving skills under high-pressure situations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
