Electrical / Controls Technician

Tapco Companies has an immediate opening for an experienced Electrical/Controls Technician with troubleshooting skills to support and maintain production of our facility. As an Electrical/Controls Technician, you will be required to conduct general maintenance inspections, perform routine electrical and mechanical maintenance to minimize downtime. You will also play a role in installation of new equipment and upgrades for production growth. Electrical/Control Technician Responsibilities: • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic issues on various types of equipment. • Troubleshoot, install and set-up control systems, which would include PLC’s, HMI’s, sensors and other automation equipment. • Knowledge of Allen-Bradley and Siemans. • Knowledge with RSlogix 500 and 5000 and DirectLogic. • Experience with low voltage control. • Troubleshoot, install and set-up of AC/DC drives, variable frequency drives and motors. • Routinely inspecting electrical systems such as wiring, fixtures, and appliances. • Identifying faults or hazards and implement solutions. • Troubleshooting system failures. • Ability to read and understand electrical wire diagrams. • Testing of electrical systems with voltmeters, ohmmeters and meggers. • Conducting maintenance repairs, preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance. • Providing suggestions for equipment replacement. • Installation of new electrical equipment and fixtures in the building. • Adhering to safety and performance standards. Electrical/Control Technician Requirements: • High school diploma or GED. • Electrician Qualification Certificate. • 4 years + work experience as an Electrical/Control Technician. • Familiarity with industrial electrical systems and the National Electrical Code. • Experience with low voltage control. • 460/480, 3 phase power. • High level of problem-solving skills. • Extensive experience working with industrial electrical systems. • Good communication skills and must work well with others. • Must be reliable, dependable and be at work on time. • Must be able to do things on your own and be self-directed. Senior Electrical Engineer

TWD is currently seeking an Senior Electrical Engineer to work out of our Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania office. Job Responsibilities: • This position requires thorough knowledge of electrical construction activities, regulations, design and engineering techniques. Responsible to plan schedules and budgets and proposals, modify drawings, specifications, calculations and new approaches to streamline site activities. • Work on medium or large size engineering projects with minimum supervision. • Follow up with local Utility Engineers for electrical power connection and joint site meeting • Follow up with Electrical suppliers’ representative and facilitate electrical testing /commissioning at site • Review and sign off Inspection Test Plans and quality check forms • Witness tests at site or at supplier’s work and approve test report • Conduct field investigations when needed; produce field reports with detailed sketches • Coordinate with other disciplines and assist home office engineers and/or designers to ensure effective quality product • Respond to site RFIs with demonstration of sound technical knowledge, with good interpretation skills of electrical codes and standard • Investigate and resolve unusual design and field engineering problems by devising new approaches • Provide technical guidance to the electrical contractors and site electrical team • Examine and certify electrical contractor’s work at site • Review and approve any addition / deletion of electrical work into original scope of work of the contractor • Review and approve electrical construction work done by the contractor Qualifications: • Electrical Engineering degree • 10 + Years years of hands-on engineering experience and engineering management in an Glass/Heavy Industrial Industries. • Must possess leadership and coaching skills in the development, training and mentoring of team members • Excellent verbal, written communication skills required. • Must have solid understanding of construction site regulations regarding Health, safety & environment • Knowledge of electrical calculation and computer applications • Ability to integrate new technologies into daily work processes • Experience of working with other disciplines understanding their interface requirements in a construction site. • Sound acquaintances with US electrical codes, NEMA, NETA and IEEE standard • Sound knowledge in electrical site acceptance test for digital relays, LV & MV switchgear, motors, cables and MCC • Must have sound knowledge in design and installation of low voltage and medium voltage power system including 4160V motors & it’s control, protective relays, medium sized transformers, 25kV vacuum circuit breakers, LV variable frequency drives and MV/LV motor control centers and hazardous area classification • Must have sound knowledge in cabling work and electrical grounding work • Strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a desire to perform design engineering • • Aptitude for seller-doer activities including building and maintaining client relationships, scoping new work, and resolving concerns • • Desire and aptitude for developing and continually improving in-house engineering processes, procedures, templates, etc. • • Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately • • Uses logical and systematic approach to accurately analyze data, problems and situations If you would like to apply for this position, respond directly to this ad for consideration.
