NASA Journeyman Electrician - $36.12 An Hour

Job Title: Electrician Job Description As a Journeyman Electrician, you will provide electrical installation and maintenance services to a wide variety of research test facilities that operate at a broad range of voltages. Your duties will include working from detailed electrical schematics and prints, bending electrical conduit, pulling large and small gauge wiring, and installing and modifying electrical panels, raceways, enclosures, motor-driven equipment, motor meggering, lighting systems, and other associated electrical hardware and devices. Future training may be required to obtain a qualified operator status within a test facility. Responsibilities • Provide electrical installation and maintenance services to research test facilities. • Work from detailed electrical schematics and prints. • Bend electrical conduit and pull large and small gauge wiring. • Install and modify electrical panels, raceways, enclosures, and motor-driven equipment. • Perform motor meggering, install lighting systems, and other associated electrical hardware and devices. • Obtain qualified operator status within a test facility through future training if required. Direct employees have access to three health plans (two PPOs and an HSA), two weeks of vacation to start (up to five weeks based on service time), and seven days of personal/sick time, with unused time paid out annually. Additional benefits include tuition reimbursement, a 401k plan with a 4% match, 11 paid holidays, and an awards/bonus program. Work Environment The Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance and Engineering (TFOME) team at the NASA Glenn Research Center provides engineering and technical services in aeronautics, space power, and propulsion test facilities. During testing (4 to 6 times a year), you must be open to working off-shift/second shift. You will receive notice of testing schedules in advance, as you will be involved in the setup process. For example, during a 6-week test, you may work two weeks on days, two weeks on afternoons, and two weeks on nights. Shift differentials include a 7.5% increase for the second shift and a 10% increase for the third shift Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.12 - $36.12/hr.
