Overview We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Journeyman Electrician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical systems, construction, and maintenance. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical codes and safety regulations, as well as the ability to work effectively on construction sites. The Journeyman's Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in various settings. Duties • Install, maintain, and repair Solar systems and equipment in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to determine the layout of electrical systems. • Utilize power tools and hand tools to complete electrical installations and repairs. • Troubleshoot electrical issues using logic controllers and ohmmeters to ensure proper functionality. • Collaborate with other tradespeople on construction sites to ensure projects are completed efficiently. • Adhere to safety protocols and electrical codes while performing all tasks. • Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems to identify potential issues before they become problematic. Skills • Proficiency in using power tools and hand tools relevant to electrical work. • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including wiring, circuit breakers, and lighting installations. • Experience with frame carpentry is a plus for integrating electrical work into building structures. • Ability to read blueprints and schematics accurately for effective installation and troubleshooting. • Familiarity with logic controllers for automation systems is advantageous. • Competence in using an ohmmeter for testing electrical circuits and components. • General maintenance person skills that complement electrical expertise are beneficial for diverse project requirements. Journeyman Responsibilities • Measuring, cutting, bending, threading, assembling, and installing conduit • Overseeing, or participating in, wire installations with conduit & cable tray • Connecting power to equipment • The ability to lead/develop up to 4 apprentice electricians • Knowledge of other construction trades • Ability to stand, walk ,and lift up to 100 lbs in construction work environment • Ability to climb, and maintain balance, on ladders and scaffolds while carrying tools • May be exposed to high and precarious places • Risk of electrical shock and outside weather conditions • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required • Other duties may be assigned Qualifications Education & Experience: We are looking for electricians with experience using, or the desire to learn, the latest BIM/VDC technologies for pre-planning and on-site coordination of all Interstates projects. • Must have state issued journeyman electrician license (or equivalent) • Industrial electrical experience required. • Knowledge of BIM/VDC Technology preferred. Location/Travel: This position will require travel in/around Brainerd, MN - up to/within a 200-mile radius. Applicants must be permanently located in/around the office location or be willing to permanently relocate. Applicants must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license. Per diem and mileage stipends applicable per company policy. Work Schedule: Start times, break times and work hours vary per site and stage of our projects. Our employees work more than 40 hours per week but no more than 60, as part of our commitment to safety. Due to the type of construction, weekend work maybe required on occasion. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, this role is often exposed to high/precarious places, risk of electrical shock, and all outside weather conditions. This role is expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Due to the nature of our work and our client base, this role may involve tasks in an environment exposed to dust. Candidates should be comfortable working in these conditions and complying with safety standards to protect their well-being. Field Leader Responsibilities Employee will use his/her experience in the field to lead a team of 3-15 people, must be OK to work in the field "on tools" when needed.
