Construction Worker - Carpenter

About the position Morton Buildings, Inc. is seeking to expand its construction crews and employee owners. As the industry leader in post-frame construction, Morton Buildings has been in business for 120 years, operating over 10 manufacturing, fabrication, and shipping plants that service more than 100 construction centers nationwide. The company is known for its quality and reliability, with thousands of new buildings featuring the recognizable Morton M each year. This position offers a competitive hourly wage of $19.00 to $21.00, depending on experience, along with various bonuses for new crew members, including a $500 quarterly bonus during the first year of employment and an additional $2000 bonus in the first year. As a Construction Worker - Carpenter, you will work under the guidance of your crew foreman to learn and apply Morton Buildings' safety and construction procedures, methods, and standards. Your responsibilities will include reading and understanding construction plans, utilizing various tools and equipment to construct buildings safely and efficiently, and executing tasks such as digging and installing footings, framing walls and roof structures, and installing windows and doors. You will also be responsible for installing various siding and roofing materials, including hi-rib steel, shingles, and mortarless masonry units, and finishing with metal and wood trims. Collaboration with other crew members in a safe, organized, and productive work environment is essential, as is treating everyone with dignity and respect. Requirements • Building construction (post-frame), carpentry or framing experience preferred (on the job or in school). , • Willingness to participate in and complete a training program. , • A valid driver's license is preferred; Class A CDL is highly desired. , • Ability to work 9-10 hours during peak construction season. , • Ability to take direction and produce quality work efficiently. , • Agree to comply with all safety processes and procedures. , • Willingness to maintain and operate construction tools safely and properly. , • Ability to operate specialized safety equipment efficiently and effectively. , • Standard weight lifting requirements - 50 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 100 pounds. , • Capable of working in a physically demanding environment and at various heights (up to 40 feet). Responsibilities: • Create and reference blueprints throughout a project • Construct various frameworks for structures, including walls, ceilings and floors • Use machinery, such as boom lifts, to perform duties • Cut and shape various materials • Ensure structures, framework and materials are up to code and undamaged • Follow written and oral instruction given from the supervisor. • Have the ability to work from heights of 10-40+ ft. with no issues while harnessed in. • Display strong math skills for measuring, cutting, and installing materials with little to no errors.
