CARPENTER FOREMAN The Position: We have an immediate, full-time opening for a Carpenter Foreman to join our team of professionals to oversee and train workers at construction sites with possible career advancement to superintendent position. Our Company: Friede & Associates is a fourth-generation construction company that traces its beginning to the early 1900s. With both carpentry and concrete crews still a part of our business, our 45-person firm has completed projects in nearly every industry, and with virtually every type of construction, including tilt-up, structural steel, pre-engineered steel, panelization and wood construction. But today our firm is best known for its work from The Wisconsin Dells/Lake Delton area south to Madison and beyond. Responsibilities: Understanding the project plans and specifications. Determine materials, equipment and, procedures required to achieve desired results. Determine and abide by safety procedures based on job site conditions. Communicate equipment and manpower needs to meet schedules and deadlines to the superintendent or General Field Superintendent as appropriate. Supervise and train workers on proper construction practices and procedures. Work with the Superintendent in allocating general and daily responsibilities and monitoring attendance of crew members. Keep the project on schedule and budget. Important Attributes: Must be motivated, self-disciplined, punctual, and accountable. Able to clearly communicate with the assigned superintendent and lead other carpenters. Ability to read blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated. Ability to safely perform demolition of existing structure. Ability to layout walls, columns, finishes, build stairs and install blocking for cabinets and accessories using approved procedures. Ability to apply sheeting to walls and ceiling as specified. Ability to fit and install prefabricated window frames, doors, door frames, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware, such as locks, kick plates, and closers. Ability to install finish trim and casework. Workers should be able to work within precise standards of accuracy. Must be in good physical condition. Necessary Education & Experience Qualifications: High school diploma preferred. Must own and maintain a good supply of carpentry hand tools that are in good condition.
