Walters Buildings, the premier family-owned post fame builder in the Midwest, is hiring motivated, hardworking, experienced crew laborers for our Fond du Lac area crew. Crew Laborers work on a 3 or 4 person crew and perform rough carpentry duties and tasks needed to safely and efficiently construct quality post frame buildings. WHY WORK FOR WALTERS? Position Summary Under the general direction of Foreman, perform rough carpentry duties and tasks needed to safely and efficiently construct quality post frame buildings. Duties/Responsibilities: The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all‑inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. • Learn and follow Walters Buildings safety and construction procedures, methods and standards. • Complete quality building projects by digging and installing footings; setting posts and nailing girts; setting trusses; installing purlins and other roofing materials; framing out and installing windows and doors; affixing siding and finishing with metal trims. • Operate tools and equipment including tape measure, impact driver, circular saw, nail gun, hammer, speed square, metal sheer, metal nibbler, skid steers, personnel lifts and telehandlers. • Performs other related duties as assigned. Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Ability to work well on a team. • Ability to work at various heights. • Ability to read building plans. • Basic carpentry skills including basic math, hammering and use of measuring tools. • Strong attention to detail, ability to think critically and problem solve. Working Environment and Physical Demands: • Perform work in extreme weather conditions (including high and low temperatures). • Physical demands include walking/standing frequently, lifting/carrying up to 90 lbs. to shoulder frequently, pushing up to 150 lbs. overhead occasionally, pulling up to 65 lbs. frequently, grasping up to 30 lbs. frequently, and climbing ladders occasionally. • Required low postures include crawling, crouching, kneeling and stooping. Education and Experience: • High School diploma or equivalent preferred. • Five years of carpentry, construction or related experience required. Job Title: Carpenter Job Description We are seeking a skilled rough carpenter to contribute to a commercial construction project. The role involves framing, finish work, and general labor duties. You will utilize various hand and power tools such as drills, tape measures, hand saws, nail guns, and reciprocating saws to prepare materials for framing.
