This position is responsible for filling pillows / cushion ticks (covers) with natural feather, down or polyester fiber products. Lifting on a repetitive basis is required with this position. Skills/Requirements • * Ability to read and interpret work orders • Fill fiber and feather backs and seats • Ability to work independently and in a team environment • Maintain stead work pace in a high-volume department • Must be able to read and interpret a tape measure • Perform basis math skills Additional Responsibilities: • Hold tick (cover) over the port to allow the blowing of filler material into the pillow / cushion ticks. • Weigh each filled pillow / cover on a scale to maintain quality standards based on customer specifications. • Move the filled ticks (covers) to the end closing area to enclose the openings. • Learn how to enclose the pillows / cushions using the enclosing (sewing) machine. • * Major duties and responsibilities of the job can be satisfactorily performed with a high school education or GED • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred but not required. Work Hours: Sunday-Thursday 8:30 pm-5:00 am depending on business needs Hourly Rate: $19.57-20.13 per hour with $1.00 shift differential for all hours worked on 2nd or 3rd shifts. As an Operator A, you will be expected to be responsible for the efficient operation of several saw machines in the department to produce quality cut foam material to meet a daily production schedule for external customers. This position works in a normal manufacturing environment with constant exposure to temperature changes and different noise levels. Minimum Qualifications: Ability to read a basic tape measure. Have basic reading, writing and math skills. Some computer experience and be able to use a computer in day-to-day operations. Able to follow written and verbal instructions. Able to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to perform minor maintenance on the machinery. Ability to become a Certified Forklift Operator, if needed. Able to lift or adjust heavy pieces of foam up to 75 lbs. repeatedly throughout the shift • Must be able to work flexible hours, overtime, weekends, holidays and call-in with little notice* Skills/Requirements Must maintain a neat, orderly, and safe work environment. Operates slitter saw within the established operating standards. Verify proper operations of the equipment and report problems to the Supervisor and/or maintenance. Manual adjustments depending upon the product specifications. Conducts quality checks on all materials to ensure the product meets all specifications. Monitors the equipment to make sure that downtime is kept to a minimum. Records pertinent data into the recording system. Must follow a prepared production schedule to cut slabs of foam into usable components for internal and external customers. Must follow work instructions to maintain quality requirements. Must adjust the cutting schedule to insure the most efficient use of each slab of foam. Must communicate with management to insure the proper labeling of cut blocks. Other duties as assigned by management.
