Wind Tower Fabrication Specialist

Job Summary • Prepare wind tower sections for fabrication operations, involving setup and operation of the sub-arc welder. • weld, grind, repair wind tower sections to Quality Inspectors' standards, focusing on seaming defects. • Work independently using tools and equipment provided, maintaining and being accountable for them. • Ensure timely delivery of a quality product without manufacturing defects. • Participate in department safety, adhering to all safety policies and procedures. • Maintain a clean work area, utilizing safe work habits. • Perform other tasks as assigned. Key Responsibilities • Carry out duties according to Quality Assurance procedures and departmental works instructions. • Contribute to improvements in quality within the department. • Comply with NOV and HSE procedures and policies. Requirements • A high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. • At least 3 years of experience in heavy manufacturing or 1 year of fabrication experience is preferred. • Familiarity with spiral mill operations and forming processes is beneficial. • Solid understanding of welding procedures and practices, including math and metric/imperial measurements. • AWS welder qualification test completion and sub-arc welding equipment proficiency are required. • Graduation from an accredited trade school is preferred. • AWS welding certification is also preferred. Essential Skills • Ability to pass a drug screen and background check. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. • Knowledge of welding properties for various metals and alloys. • Ability to identify and communicate production/maintenance problems to supervision. • Motivated and safety-conscious, with integrity and dedication to high-performance standards in a team-oriented environment. • Ability to stand, walk, bend/stoop, push/pull, and repetitive movement up to 12 hours daily. • Willingness to comply with all safety policies, PPE requirements, and operating procedures. • Ability to adapt and be cross-trained to learn all job duties. • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. • Factory environment with large temperature changes.
