Vestas Certified Wind Turbine Service Technician

Location: 100% travel throughout the USA on an 8 week on / 2 week off rotation Job Type: Regular Full-time or Contract positions available Job Responsibilities: • Travel extensively to perform scheduled and unscheduled wind turbine maintenance • Lead and mentor wind technicians during troubleshooting, repairs, and service operations • Perform electrical and mechanical tasks, including: • Torquing, tensioning, greasing, and filter changes • Hydraulic and electrical component maintenance • Major component exchanges (MCEs) • Alignments using mechanical or laser tools • Use of borescopes for inspections • Charging accumulators and using amp clamps • Perform LOTO procedures on all energy sources; conduct HV switching operations • Read and interpret electrical/hydraulic schematics and one-line diagrams • Terminate wires based on schematics and identify motors, generators, and other components • Use diagnostic tools and support site punch-list closeouts • Develop work instructions and safety documentation • Maintain accurate records and report all safety or technical issues promptly Must meet the following requirements, have or obtain the listed required certifications and training (may be provided) including, but not limited to: • Must have 3+ years of successful service and troubleshooting experience on Wind Turbines (Vestas platforms preferred) • Valid passport preferred • Ability to work an 8-week on, 1 week off rotation • Physically able to safely climb wind turbines up to 120m+ (400+ feet), stand, stoop, walk, crawl, crouch, lift up to 75 lbs. and generally meet the physical demands of the position. • Must have strong experience doing torquing and tensioning • Must have strong experience using a grease gun, doing filter changes • Valid and current driver's license with a satisfactory driving record (satisfactory MVR is required) • Must be 21 years of age to be able to drive a company vehicle • Must be able to proficiently read, write and speak English • Satisfactory criminal background check • The following certifications or will train: • GWO BST (Basic Safety Training) - fire awareness, working at heights, manual handling, first aid • GWO BTT (Basic Technical Training) - electrical, hydraulic, mechanical • OSHA 10 General Industry • Crane, Chain Hoist and Rigging Safety Training • NFPA 70E Arc-Flash Awareness • Prefer training or experience with Touchscreen Controller Hand Terminals

Up Tower Repair Wind Technician (Medium Correctives)

Your Impact: Our Certified Up tower Repair Wind Technicians will be performing up-tower repairs and diagnostics on medium & major components including Generator Bearings, Generator Slip Rings, Rotor & Stator Cables, Gearbox HSS replacement, HSS bearings, IMS replacement, IMS bearings, Yaw Drive Repair/Exchange, Generator Exchanges & Trunnion Pin Repairs. Carry out daily tasks such as cleaning, organizing, minor assembly, minor service & troubleshooting. They are required to climb vertically at least 300ft. Must maintain certifications in all areas required by the position. The Position is 100% travel currently on 6 weeks on 1 week off rotation. Core Experience • Direct Turbine Specific experience is required- GE, SGRE, and Suzlon experience is preferred. • MCE experience required with additional knowledge in lifting/hoisting operations. • Generator and gearbox bearing exchange experience required. • Ability to measure and interpret digital and analog calipers. • At times, you may be required to support lifting operations following skills verification of Large Components • Small to medium corrective work experience required. • GWO certifications highly desired Physical/Work Environment • Ability and willingness to climb a wind turbine vertically at least 300 feet. • Maintain a weight between 120 and 280 pounds, including clothing and boots, for OSHA safety compliance. • Lift and move equipment as needed (more than 50 pounds). • Work in an indoor or outdoor environment in adverse weather conditions with blowing pollen, dust, and grasses. JOB SUMMARY: Senior Field Technician will oversee performed maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of wind turbine mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems, understand schematic and use appropriate diagnostic tools. SENIOR FIELD TECHNICIAN SUMMARY Senior Field Technician will work independently and essentially perform all mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and retrofit activities. Senior Field Technician will have completed advanced electrical and mechanical OEM or Deutsche-Windtechnik courses. Senior Field Technician will serve as the in-charge person or temporary team leader for their respective work team, as well as provide leadership and technical direction. Must have advanced skills in a particular category a site or project leadership position. DESCRIPTION OF TASKS: • The provision of preventative and corrective maintenance on Siemens 2.3 and 3.0DD wind turbines as per DWT instructions • Completion of all relevant paperwork, including work order cards, checklists, AWPs etc. • Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed • Assist and help lead Large Corrective teams with replacement of major turbine components e.g. generators and gearboxes • Troubleshoot on mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems • Assist in all areas of site operations • Provide safe access and egress to all people in the work party • Establish and maintain general safety from the system / Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) • Comply with DWT Policies and Procedures and customer site rules direct all Wind farm operations at the site for maintenance and repair, focusing on performance and profitability and within the framework of the Operating Plan. • Develop strategy for improved maintenance diagnostic and operation to provide additional customer value and reduce cost of service Recognizes occurrences of wind turbine error codes and appropriately reports the problem. • Direct the performance of Wind Field Operation within assigned contractual scope of responsibilities to customers Demonstrate responsibility for all phases of timely financial reporting, elimination of contractual liquid damages, and availability of turbines Maintains adherence to Company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices. • Maintains proper care of Company tools and vehicles. • Demonstrates the ability to learn advanced troubleshooting and repair of the wind turbines. • Work closely with internal team members to develop and implement Operation focused feedback for configuration, planned and unplanned maintenance, and financials • Report all incidents and occurrences as per Deutsche Windtechnik Company Health and Safety policy. REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: • High School Graduate / GED • Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience • 6-10 years’ experience as a Wind Turbine Technician • Valid driving license (NON CDL / CDL) • Must be able to pass a physical exam and drug/alcohol screening. • Must be able to climb and work a top freestanding wind turbine towers that exceed 250 feet in height.
