Summary The Welder will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products by using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment. Job Responsibilities • Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job. • Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment. • Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage. • Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded. • Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area. • Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered. • Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Minimum Qualifications • Good communication (written and verbal) skills and the ability to speak read and write Basic English. • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. • Must be a self-motivated, dependable, team oriented person with a positive Can Do attitude who can be effective under pressure. • Ability to work as a team with other personnel assigned to the job • 6 months consecutive experience in production is ideal, but not required • Willingness to work overtime. • Participate in insuring a safe work environment through promoting all company safety policies. • Ability to be patient, calm and helpful with internal and external customers to resolve issues in a constructive manner. • High School Diploma/GED is preferred, but not required • Ability to comprehend and implement oral instructions quickly. • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and to comprehend measurements • Good eyesight or wear corrective lenses as seeing is essential to the job. SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE: Under ongoing supervision, the Fitter-Welder fits elbows and welds, cleans and grinds fabricated products. Lays out, fit and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms while meeting all quality and safety standards. May assist in coordinating activities of welders for special welding techniques and/or procedures. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: • Fits elbow and attachment using torch & tack welding • Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together • Cuts products with torch and other tools. • Gouges welds. • Grinds welds and fabricated pieces • Welds product according to plans and specifications • Completes proper documentation. • Moves pipe with overhead crane. SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in the departmental housekeeping and safety efforts and works collaboratively with other members of the department and production counterparts to ensure production workflow. WORK HOURS / SHIFT • Work hours vary or change from eight to twelve hours shifts based on operational needs. • Must be able to work on Saturdays and overtime as required. Performs complex tasks related to welding fabrication. Fit up, tack weld and final weld out of ASME pressure tanks. This position is responsible for ensuring that all welding is completed with the qualified Weld Procedure Specification (WPS). To ensure that product is built to required code specifications and approved Engineering drawing. This position reports to the Lead man of the designated area. This role is based at our Fort Worth, Texas. This position will be on the manufacturing floor and will be responsible for utilizing the Kiosks located throughout the shop. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities • Pulls parts listed on the bill of material (BOM) and checks against blueprints and work orders. • Follows rules that are required by ASME Section 1, Section IV, HLW, and Section VIII Division 1. • Builds parts according to working instructions and engineered production drawings. • Performs duplex stainless steel and carbon steel welding. • Checks all tools and performs preventive maintenance. • Changes out consumables and assists with the maintenance of tools. • Check overhead cranes to ensure they are functioning properly. Complete daily crane safety logs. • Utilizes crane and/or forklift for material handling. • Assists with the inspection of parts and inventory reviews. • Attend regular safety meetings and training. • Gathers, cleans, and inspects safety gear. • Organizes and cleans work area daily. • Provides guidance and answers questions for colleagues with less experience. • Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by Supervisors and/or managers and other applicable Company management teams. • Responsibility directly tied to Watts Value (Integrity, Accountability, Continuous Improvement, Transparency) • Travel Requirements: Less than 5% of travel. Examples of travel: Inner company training, Offsite training, offsite repairs. Required Qualifications • High School or equivalent. • 3-year experience in welding fabrication. ASME experience a plus. • Requires a current forklift license (Training and Certification issued by Watts) • Ability to use and understand dimensional tools including tape measure, calipers, and weld gauges. • Aptitude to read blueprints and welding symbols. • Ability to follow instructions. • Good communication skills. • Ability to pass a 2G GMAW Welding Test • Ability to pass a 2G GTAW Welding Test • Initiative to self-train and advance to Welder A. 6G pipe test required for advancement. Preferred Qualifications • 3-5 years ASME pressure vessel fabrication experience • Combination welder (GMAW, GTAW) • Experience with Duplex Stainless Steel and/ or welding Exotic materials. • Fanuc robot programming and operation. • Lincoln Electric welder machine experience.
