About the position The Welder/Fabricator position is responsible for the set-up and operation of welding machines and fabricating sheet metal. The role involves working with blueprints and verbal instructions to ensure precision in metal fabrication and welding tasks. Responsibilities • Sets up and operates welding machines to weld metal parts according to work orders, blueprint layouts and verbal instructions. , • Maintains accurate record keeping of settings from precision control panels or power packs for repeat applications. , • Cleans parts to remove contamination prior to welding. , • Sets up and operates all phases of brazing applications using clamps, fixtures and torches working to specified tolerances. , • Sets up and operates welding machines to repair, join or fabricate parts working with blueprints, sketches or verbal orders. , • Follows blueprints to meet product specifications and maintain tight tolerances. , • Changes weld cups, electrodes and any other tooling to maintain quality and production standards. , • Trains less experienced employees in set-up and quality production standards. , • Maintains tools, gages and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner. , • Complies with company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations. , • Completes assembly responsibilities to include drilling, tapping & grinding. , • Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements • MIG welding is preferred but not required. , • Experience with press brake machine operation - 2 years preferred. , • Proficiency in blueprint reading for metal fabrication. , • Knowledge of sheet metal materials and their properties. , • Familiarity with various forms of calculating portions, percentages, and measuring. , • Ability to perform quality inspections on finished products. , • Experience with cutting, stamping press operations, and other metalworking techniques.
