Structural Welder - 1st shift

Structural Welder – 1st Shift Location: Burlington Shift: 1st Shift We are seeking skilled Structural Welders to join our growing team. This role is ideal for welders with strong attention to detail, the ability to work from blueprints, and the skills to meet strict structural requirements in a heavy steel environment. Primary Responsibilities • Perform Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW – Dual Shield) in accordance with AWS D1.1 standards. • Read and follow shop drawings/blueprints to ensure welds meet specifications. • Use grinders and other power tools to prep and finish welds. • Maintain consistent weld quality to meet structural and safety requirements. • Inspect own welds for accuracy and defects prior to QC review. • Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures. • Work efficiently to meet production goals while maintaining quality standards. Testing Requirement – Must Pass D.1.1 test on site • All candidates must pass the AWS D1.1 weld test on-site. • The test consists of: • Dual shield flux core welding on a 1" plate in a vertical position. • The weld coupon will be bent and inspected by a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI). • The bevel, root, and weld quality must fully meet AWS D1.1 standards. Qualifications / Requirements • Minimum 1-2+ years of structural welding experience (preferred). • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols. • Must be proficient in Flux Core (FCAW) dual shield welding. • Ability to lift and handle materials up to 50+ lbs, 10–12 feet in length. • Strong knowledge of welding safety practices and PPE requirements. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. • Must pass an on-site weld test (AWS D1.1 standard) prior to employment. Preferred Qualifications • Prior experience in a heavy structural steel or fabrication shop environment. • Familiarity with overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment. • AWS D1.1 certification(s) a plus. Location:Burlington, NC Job Type: Full-time Pay: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour (based on experience and skill level) Schedule: 8–10 hour shifts | Monday–Friday, weekends as needed | Overtime available About the Role: We are a fast-paced, growing company seeking qualified Structural Steel Welders & Fabricators for a full-time position on our 2nd shift. The ideal candidate will have experience in structural steel welding and be proficient in Flux Core (FCAW) welding processes, preferably under AWS D1.1 standards.
