Position Summary Acuren Inspection is currently looking for a Welderto support our operations for the East Region. THIS WILL BE A TRAVEL POSITION. This position will perform welding for casting upgrades, grind/rework/prep areas that require welding, and general mechanical duties. Works with numerous ASTM, MIL-standards, AWS & ASME-approved procedures as well as - Welding: MIG, TIG, Plasma & Orbital, Brazing: Torch Brazing & Silver Solder, Stress Relieve: Recirculating hot-air oven, aging and embrittlement relief. Responsibilities • Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements • Set up components for welding according to specifications. • Operate straight and angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded • Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces • Repair castings and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety • Experience running or reviewing MVR's (Motor Vehicle Reports) and experience submitting or reviewing background checks. • Ability to organize and prioritize work while meeting deadlines. • Excellent grasp of industry terminology. • Strong accuracy and attention to detail. • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Requirements • IRATA or SPRAT Level I or higher • Recent graduate from welding school/program • General mechanical capabilities • Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG specifically) • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.) • Metal preparations, remove discontinuities or defects prior to any repairs made by welding • Upon completion of weld repairs, surface contours require additional grinding and finishing to meet client's specification Certified and or Previously certified in: • Structural Steel - D1.1 • R Stamp for Pressure Vessels Alterations and Repair.
