Structural Welder(s) and Fitter(s)- Flux Core, Marine Construction

C.A. Jones is seeking Structural Welders and Shipfitters for marine construction projects located throughout the Great Lakes region. Welders should have a minimum of 3 years of industrial welding experience. Work will commence in early to mid-February. These positions offer full time scheduling (40 to 50 hours per week). Welders must be proficient in: • Interpretation of blueprints, schematics, and drawings • Flux-core (FCAW) welding, all positions (2g, 3g, 4g). You will be required to complete weld testing on-site prior to starting. Weld tests will visually inspected and bend tested. Fitters must be proficient in use of hand torch (cutting, beveling), steel plate repairs, inserts, and other typical fitting duties. Fitters must be able to pass tack welding test (SMAW). Welder/Fabricator

REPORTS TO: Shop Floor Supervisor JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a skilled Food Grade Fabrication Welder to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in fabricating and welding stainless steel components used in food processing equipment and environments. This position requires a high standard of cleanliness, precision, and knowledge of sanitary welding practices in compliance with food safety regulations. Key Responsibilities: • Fabricate and assemble stainless steel components and equipment according to food-grade specifications. • Perform high-quality TIG welding, including sanitary and purge welding techniques. • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols. • Grind, polish, and finish welds to meet sanitary and cosmetic standards. • Conduct self-inspections and ensure welds meet quality and regulatory standards. • Work with engineering and production teams to ensure on-time, accurate fabrication. • Maintain cleanliness of work area and uphold all safety, hygiene, and compliance protocols. • Document and report fabrication and weld completion according to company processes. Required Skills and Qualifications: • 3+ years of TIG welding experience with stainless steel, especially in sanitary or food-grade applications. • Proficiency in welding techniques such as orbital and purge welding. • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols. • Skilled in grinding and polishing welds to meet hygienic and aesthetic standards. • Knowledge of food safety and sanitary fabrication requirements (e.g., 3-A Sanitary Standards, USDA, FDA). • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship. • Ability to lift and maneuver heavy materials and work in physically demanding environments. • High school diploma or GED. Preferred Qualifications: • Certification in TIG welding (e.g., AWS D18.1, ASME Section IX). • Experience with ASME BPE standards or other hygienic piping/fabrication standards. • Familiarity with Clean-in-Place (CIP) and hygienic design principles. • Prior work experience in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or dairy industry. • Forklift or crane operation certification. Working Conditions: • Work is performed in a machine shop environment, with regular exposure to welding fumes, heat, and noise. • Ability to stand, bend, and work with hands for extended periods. Work Schedule & Pay: • Shift: First Shift, Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM • Breaks: Includes a 10-minute paid break and a 15-minute paid lunch per shift. • Pay Range: Up to $35 per hour, depending on experience. • Insurance Coverage: Health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance. • Retirement Plan: 401(k) available.
