Welder/Fitter

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Welder/Fitter to join our team of Field Technicians. Field Technicians are responsible for the creation of a wide range of products. They work with various materials to create anything from simple parts to complex machines. Their work is highly technical in nature and requires an understanding of engineering principles and industry processes. They will read and understand drawings from mechanical layouts via verbal instructions, electronic images, drawings and sketches. They are commonly responsible for cutting, welding, fabricating, fitting, grinding and assembling equipment. Responsibilities • Perform high quality work in cutting, welding, fabricating, fitting, grinding, and assembling equipment per drawings, images, and verbal instructions. • Select appropriate materials and equipment for each project. • Inspect products to ensure they meet quality standards for use in manufacturing (customer) processes. • Examine completed welds to ensure they are free of defects, smooth and functional. • Maintain accurate records of all projects including material usage. • Adhere to all safety policies while working. • Work independently with little guidance. Stay on task and focused. Keep visiting to a minimum and in good business taste. • Work towards continuous improvements on processes by seeking to find new and better ways to do your job that will improve the quality and service we provide our customers. • Make decisions for the good of the company. Must be open minded to suggestions and feedback. Must be respectful and courteous to fellow employees. • Follow Lee’s Contracting/Fabricating, Inc. policies and procedures. • Use company supplied equipment is for business purposes only. • Must be dependable and reliable. • Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements • High school diploma or GED certificate required. • One-year technical or associates degree in Welding/Fitting or other related trade or 2+ years’ experience in related field required. • Valid driver’s license in good standing (daily travel will be required). • Obtain/maintain AWS GMAW/TIG Welding Certification • Interpret and read blue prints to plan and layout work to install piping and equipment from start to finish. • Have strong analytical and mathematical skills. • Perform ASME Code TIG, purge and stick welding in flat, vertical, and overhead positions. • Safety first mentality with ability to operate forklifts, overhead cranes, scissor lifts, etc. • Ability to calculate material measurements to verify specifications. • Detail oriented with good verbal and written communication skills. • Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including confined space work, temperature extremes and heights. (Includes: twisting, squatting, lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time.) • Must be able to lift and/or carry 50-75 lbs. • Projects may demand long hours. • Able to work well in a fast-paced environment. • Must have good follow through and quality control measures in place. • Have general knowledge of mechanical systems. • Must be highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges. • Have a positive attitude and sense of teamwork. • Possess quick thinking and problem-solving mindset. • May be subject to an onsite welding proficiency test as a condition of employment. • Handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion. Work will be done both indoors and outdoors, primarily at customer facilities in CENTRAL WISCONSIN with LOCAL travel required between facilities.
