MIG Welder – Day Shift JOB DESCRIPTION: Superior Machine Company has provided repair, replacement, rebuilds of electric arc furnaces and continuous casting equipment for the steel industry throughout North America for 50+ years. The Welder position is full time and based in Florence, SC. The work schedule is Monday thru Thursday from 6am – 6pm and Friday from 6am – 2:30pm, weekends as needed. We are looking for experienced and reliable welders who know how to work in a team environment that can provide solid work performance in fabricating components for electric arc furnace systems while maintaining high quality and safety standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • MIG weld on plate or pipe fabrication to AWSD 1.1 in a fabrication shop environment. • Ability to utilize welding equipment and processes specified by Superior Machine. • Ability to maintain production and quality standards. • Receives instructions, blueprints and work orders for the job. • Develop a working procedure for the job, material requirements, scaffolding and other equipment required. • Calculate dimensions and bends required for piping. • Install bends, cuts, threads and cuts off piping and shapes-and fabricate pipe to particular requirements for the job. • Start up and shut down equipment in line with company safety procedures for machinery under power and OSHA requirements. • Pipe weld and MIG weld with X-ray quality and high-quality appearance. • Must be able to weld in all physical positions including overhead, horizontal and vertical. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: • 5 years MIG Welding/Fabrication work experience. • Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret drawing for dimensions and weld patterns to determine quality adherence to engineering requirements. • Math/Measuring: Demonstrate ability to Count, Add, subtract fractions and decimals; Read a Tape Measure to 1/16 increments. • Stick and TIG weld a plus. • Maintain and calibrate welding equipment. • Ability to Follow Directions and Instructions. • Follow all Safety Procedures and Policies.
