From performing preventative maintenance and inspections, to troubleshooting and making repairs to maximize production, the Solar Maintenance Technician gets to exercise a verity of skill sets and has constant opportunities to learn more. All while making an impact on our safe, reliable, clean energy future.This role will encompass performing the preventative and corrective maintenance on the solar modules, strings, trackers, and inverters.ResponsibilitiesUphold a high level of safety standards in everything that you doConducting routine preventive maintenance, service, troubleshooting and repair of solar photovoltaic facilitiesWillingness to learn the NEC code, electrical theory, and industry best practicesDC and AC testing included but not limited to polarity, open circuit voltage, grounding continuity, communication, insulation resistance testing, I-V curve tracingInterpret schematics to understand system layouts and connectionsMaintain a schedule for routine maintenance, service, trouble shooting and repair of equipment at solar photovoltaic facilities including but not limited to: Single Axis trackers, Central or String Inverters, Transformers, AC and DC disconnects, Substation equipmentMaintaining company property such as vehicle, tools, meters and plant stockMaintaining service reports, inspection documentation, safety paperwork, and spare parts inventoryProvide maintenance and troubleshooting training to technicians and others as neededIdentify safety hazards and take appropriate action to remove or eliminate hazardsQualification RequirementsFamiliarity with electrical systems and componentsProficiency in using power tools for repair tasksAbility to read and interpret schematics accuratelyProficiency with MS Office suiteAbility to take direction and complete tasks with minimal oversightValid Driver's LicenseWorking knowledge and experience operating under OSHA 1910, NFPA 70E, and 70BOSHA 10 General Industry certificateMust have the ability to travel, work on-call during off-shift hours and weekendsPhysical Requirements/Work Environment:Work is to be performed outdoors at various job sites.Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: • Practice safety rules. • Follow verbal and written instructions. • Safe use of hand & power tools. • Report to and assist immediate supervisor. • Perform quality work as determined by project specifications. • Accountable for all tools and materials at the end of your shift. • Must work well as part of a team. • Able to perform terminations up to 1500V ac and dc • Able to read construction drawings and understand construction specifications. • Have a basic understanding of electrical systems. • Able to install underground cabling and conduits. • Able to run basic electrical test equipment. • Able to work with, train and mentor helpers. • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation. • New Hire Orientation Quiz • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the workplace. • Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.). • Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.). • Must comply with company’s drug and alcohol abuse policy. • Must be able to pass physical examination, pre-employment if necessary, and as required by the company. • Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc. • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.). • Able to carry 50 lbs. of tool and/or materials. It is recommended to get assistance to lift items over 50 lbs. Check with your project supervisor or project safety director. • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time. • Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.) • Must be clean shaven and able to work while wearing a respirator and other personal protective equipment, when required.
