G2 Consulting Group is looking for a full-time staff engineer to join our geotechnical solar team in the Ann Arbor office. Staff engineers perform field testing, laboratory testing, and engineering-report preparation related to the development of industrial-scale solar energy projects. All work will be performed under the supervision of a project engineer or project manager. Principal field duties include soil boring logging, sample collection, pile load testing, and electrical resistivity testing. Most work will be performed outdoors at sites across the country. Projects will require the engineer to travel extensively, generally 1 to 2 weeks at a time. Project frequency will vary, but multiple projects may occur consecutively. Principal laboratory duties include determination of California Bearing Ratio (CBR), soil thermal resistivity, unconfined compressive strength, dry density, Atterberg limits, organic content, particle-size distribution, and soil classification. Principal report preparation duties include analyzing and interpreting field and laboratory test data, performing complex engineering calculations, and developing recommendations for foundation and roadway design.
