Assembles and installs valves pipe fittings and pipes composed of metals such as iron and steel and nonmetals such as plastic and glass using hand and power tolls. Cuts and grooves threads pipes using cutters cutting torch and pipe threading machine. Joins pipes by using screws blots fittings or solder and caulk joints. Tank cleaning and inspections in confined spaces. Repairs medical gas fixtures by replacing arts bed pans hoses and clears vacuum lines for Environmental Services. Must communicate well with regulatory personnel. May estimate the cost of materials and equipment for a project. Directs the work of apprentice plumbers and performs core drilling. Other information: BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Possession of valid Plumber s License. Knowledge of general principles in order to trouble shoot the hospital s plumbing system. Knowledge of plumbing and other legal codes and regulations. Physical strength to carry tools and equipment. Must keep good records for inspections. Requires high school diploma or trade school program. EXPERIENCE: Requires a minimum of four years experience including a four year apprenticeship program or the equivalent.
