On-Call Plumbing/Gas Inspector

Job Description: Administrative, inspection and technical work in enforcing provisions of the Massachusetts Code for installation of gas appliances and gas piping and Massachusetts State Plumbing Code (Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 142). Performs duties on an on-call as needed basis to fill in for the Gas/Plumbing Inspectors in their absence. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma with five years experience as a journeyman plumber/gasfitter; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Massachusetts Journeyman Plumbers and Gasfitters license required. Class D drivers license required. Additional Qualifications: Thorough knowledge of gas fitting theory and practices, and of state and local laws relating to gas work. Thorough knowledge of all natural and liquefied petroleum gases. Knowledge of the principles of hydraulic, mechanical and sanitary engineering as they apply to plumbing installations. Ability to read plans and prepare necessary diagrams. Ability to interpret and enforce regulations firmly, tactfully and impartially. Ability to maintain complete and accurate inspection records and to prepare reports. Posted PLUMBER The Steamship Authority is currently seeking to fill a full-time, permanent, union position in the Engineering and Maintenance Department working out of the Falmouth Maintenance Facility. Qualifications and certifications required. The applicant must have three to five years of experience in general household or commercial plumbing. Applicant must be licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Plumber with a minimum of Journeyman Plumber License.
