POSITION SUMMARY: The Journeyman Plumber is responsible for the layout, assembly, installation and maintenance of all plumbing pipe systems including the setting of fixtures and basic heat systems according to specifications and plumbing codes. The Journeyman Plumber possesses knowledge of water, sewer, and gas systems. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Review blueprints, plumbing codes and specifications to determine work details and procedures. • Study building plans and inspect structures to assess material and equipment needs, establish the sequence of pipe installations, and to plan installation around obstructions, such as electrical wiring, footings and other obstructions. • Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes using measuring instruments such as rulers and levels. • Measure, cut, and thread for piping systems, using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines. • Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings, using hand and power tools neatly without structural damage to buildings. • Install anchors, unistrut and rack for supporting piping systems. • Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing. • Set plumbing fixtures, fittings, valves, appliances such as dishwashers and water heaters, and fixtures such as sinks and toilets, using hand and power tools. • Install underground storm, sanitary and water piping systems and extend piping to connect fixtures and plumbing to these systems. • Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate possible leaks for plumbing inspections. • Repair and maintain plumbing, replacing defective washers, replacing or mending broken pipes, and opening clogged drains. • Keep daily records of assignments and produce detailed timecards and PTP’s. Journeyman Service Technician Plumber

Description Purpose: T&J Heating, A/C and Plumbing is a full-service heating, air conditioning and plumbing organization, providing new installation, repairs and ongoing maintenance services to commercial and residential clients throughout New England. We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Plumber with excellent residential plumbing skills to join our growing team with the goal of maintaining flow and drainage of waters, air and other gases by assembling, installing and repairing pipes, fittings and plumbing fixtures while maintaining safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems across our customer base. This role will primarily support the Service Department by responding to service calls, diagnosing plumbing issues, and providing high-quality repairs and customer service. Responsibilities: • Provide leadership, training and instruction for junior members of the Plumbing Team • Independently assemble, install, maintain and pressure test all pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, drainage and gas systems according to specification and plumbing codes • Determine sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders • Install and repair pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and plumbing system equipment, including waters heaters, waters softeners, residential plumbing fixtures etc. • Install/repair dishwashers and kitchen equipment that incorporate gas or water usage • Received and complete daily work orders • Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates for management • Maintain accurate records on material and labor used • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment and materials • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean • Work with customers and supervisors to ensure project completion has met or exceeded customer expectations • Respond to emergency calls as needed • Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment • Correct any unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately • Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area • Other duties may include working in the other areas of the company to provide support during absences, staff shortages in other trades or to perform duties associated with light construction projects Requirements • Maintain a valid Massachusetts Journeyman Plumber license • Valid drivers license and ability to drive a company truck or van • 4+ years experience as an Apprentice Plumber • Experience with plumbing repairs, maintenance and installation techniques • Knowledge of plumbing codes • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material • Ability to perform mathematical calculations • Ability to diagnose and resolve problems • Ability to work independently • Experience with using hand and power tools; pipe bender, propane torch • Experience with maintaining a safe work environment Competencies: • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with customers, co-workers, and management • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability, prioritize, and resolve problems • Strong personal time management skills both at customer sites and with completing of administrative tasks
