We are currently seeking a General Laborer for our Bridge and Roadway Project in Winston-Salem, NC. THIS JOB POSTING IS FOR OUR WINSTON-SALEM, NORTH CAROLINA, BRIDGE and ROADWAY PROJECT. STARTING PAY is negotiable and based on skills and experience. Your Job Summary The construction laborer performs tasks involving physical labor at general building and highway/heavy construction projects. The position may operate a variety of hand and power tools and may clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, and remove waste materials. The position may assist other craft workers. Your Responsibilities Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in general or heavy/highway construction projects; performs manual work. Shovels bituminous concrete (asphalt) into construction areas. Excavates and fills trenches and ditches. Maintains a clean job site: picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards. Performs materials handling and storage. Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials. Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Providing assistance to Foremen and other Supervisors as needed, mixing, pouring and spreading materials, erecting and stripping form work. Laborers may also spend time with traffic control and flagging. Laborers operate a variety of equipment and must adhere to company safety procedures and practices at all times. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Normal days and hours of work are Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with time provided for lunch, hours may vary. Work may be local or out of town in which case overnight stays are required. This position frequently requires long hours and weekend work. Travel/ Driving Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state drivers license prior to employment. Required Education And Experience High school diploma or equivalent.
