We provide civil/site design and land surveying, environmental, geotechnical, construction administration & inspection, accident reconstruction, roofing/building envelope, A/V system design, troubleshooting and installation, and specialized testing services to the construction industry. Highlights: • Project types will focus primarily on Water/Wastewater plants and water main projects (repairs, installations) in the Marion and Tiffin regions. • A company truck can be provided or you can use your personal vehicle and receive a reimbursement. • The typical schedule is Monday-Friday – day shift typically (@7am-5pm). • If bad weather affects the timeline, some Saturdays may be needed to meet our clients project schedules. • Night time work may occur occasionally but we strive to give as much advance notice of possible so you can plan accordingly. • This is year-round work since work is below the frost line. Responsibilities: • Performs construction engineering technician and inspection services primarily involving concrete testing, rebar inspection, and other building materials for W/WW plant construction projects and overseeing utility location, digging, and water main installations/connections and repairs for municipal clients. • Responsible for testing, inspecting, and reporting on specific aspects of construction works in progress, such as concrete pours, rebar placement, utility location, vertical and horizontal digging, as examples. • Performs inspections for construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans, and/or proposals for construction work. • Notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer of non-conforming work. • May be responsible for inspection and sampling of construction materials. • Performs computations with formulas, plots data, and draws simple curves and graphs. • Assists Engineers in field during soil and materials investigations. • Ensures that job site tests/observations, including quality control, quality assurance, and verifications are performed in accordance with the standard test/observation methods, project specifications and other contract documents. • Prepares and maintains project records and reports. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Knowledge of engineering, construction, testing and inspection principles is a strong plus. • Knowledge of materials testing - standard testing and observation methods – is a plus. • Knowledge and understanding of construction or engineering principles is a strong plus. • Ability to perform quality control initiatives. • Ability to perform testing and lab reporting. • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills. • Must possess an acceptable driving record. • Ability to perform engineering and construction field-testing. • Ability to work in external environment conditions during difficult weather. • Ability to work and provide status updates independently. Minimum Qualifications: Education: • High School, Technical School, Community College, or Bachelor's (Const Mgt degree or Civil Eng) graduate. • New Grads are encouraged to apply Certifications: • ACI Grade I Concrete Testing Technician (preferred but not required) Physical Requirements: • Primary work location is in the field and will require candidate to stand for extended periods. • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
