Manual Machinist

Job Title: Manual Machinist Job Description Join our team as a skilled Manual Machinist, where you will perform hands-on machining operations and support maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work on various industrial equipment such as valves, pumps, and actuators. This role requires flexibility and problem-solving skills to ensure timely completion of tasks. Responsibilities • Perform machining and support operations on individual components of valves, pumps, and other industrial equipment using various manual machines. • Conduct hands-on shop work, maintenance, testing, and repair of valves and actuators. • Inspect, report, clean, and reassemble valves and actuators in the workshop. • Machine materials and parts using various machining equipment. • Read and interpret schematics for assembly, repair, and reassembly as required. • Perform failure assessments and provide recommendations to the on-site supervisor. • Conduct routine safety observations and inspections. • Assist machinist apprentices and trainees with day-to-day duties. Essential Skills • Proficiency in operating Manual Lathe, Vertical and Horizontal Mills, Surface Grinders, Cut-Off saws, and drill press. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. • Experience with machining, milling, and inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and tooling setups. • Strong teamwork skills and willingness to undertake duties outside of machining when necessary. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Journeyman level Manual Machinist with at least 4-5 years of professional experience • Experience working with valves or within the oil/gas industry is a plus. • Knowledge of API 598 standards and horizontal boring mills. • Military experience with 1-2+ years is acceptable. OUTSIDE MACHINIST FOREMAN

SHIP REPAIR - OUTSIDE MACHINE SHOP FOREMAN Mare Island Dry Dock LLC Our Ship Repair Outside Machine Shop Foremen are primarily responsible for managing Craft Department which includes planning and scheduling work, managing and developing staff (motivating, leading, training, and disciplining), managing other resources, and providing a safe work environment for own department and surrounding personnel. Responsibilities • Lead the Machine Department to successfully complete assigned work within budget and agreed time limits. Advise the Production Manager as required. • Provide accurate estimates of manpower, material and equipment needs to complete projects and tasks. Estimates provide all necessary information requested to management. • Accurately plan and schedule projects and tasks. All plans and schedules are provided to various departments to integrate with other craft plans and schedules. All plans and schedules accurately meet project and task assignments. Communicates progress to Project Manager along with anticipated issues/problems that could impact production. • Manage and develop department employees, including motivating, leading, training, and disciplinary action, as needed. Non-Journeyman are assigned work that increases their skill and abilities in that department. Employees understand how they contribute to the success of the department, yard, and business. Employees receive prompt feedback so they understand when they perform well and when they perform poorly. • Walks every production job before assigning it to assess necessary preparations for an efficient and safe execution of the work. Follows up at the job site multiple times a day to ensure proper progress and resolve potential issues. • Schedule staff and work crew in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. • Ensures all employees are properly supervised and have all the necessary tools, equipment, specifications, drawings, and procedures to properly accomplish their jobs. • Inspects every job by every trade person upon completion to ensure trade quality standards and attention to detail have been met. • Attends daily production meetings and coordinates their assignments with other shops/ subcontractors and ensures projected goals are met and all issues are addressed. • Encourage and maintain a safe work environment. • May perform Machinist work if 1) all department employees are scheduled a full week, or 2) the work performed is intended to train the crew on the proper procedure/use of tools and equipment. • Other duties as assigned. Requirements • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with minimum of 15 years related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint). • Strong written and oral communication skills.
