Machinists must know the control functions of a milling machine and/or lathe, have good basic math skills, be able to read a blueprint and use precision measurement tools, and have a general understanding of materials and speeds and feeds. Machinists must also be able to orient, position, and fixture components as needed to produce features to print tolerance requirements. All production employees must be able to work safely with and around machine tools, welders, and other industrial equipment in a high pace production environment.
