Overview • *The hourly rate for this position is $26.02/ hour. We are about supporting the mission of the warfighter. Our products can be found with every U.S. Military branch with allies around the world. The Machinist #3 loads, operates, and unloads a variety of conventional machines, presses, saws, and other industrial related equipment to produce parts per manufacturing process. Ensures parts are within the specified tolerances using the prescribed gages. Major Position Responsibilities Employees will have primary responsibilities in one or more of these job disciplines: • Qualifier • Lathes Chamberer • Broacher Rifling • Straightener • Cut Off Saw Operator • Grinder Cylindrical • Deep Hole Driller May be required to perform other duties as required by management. Must have physical ability to frequently lift, move, adjust, etc. items weighing approximately 35 lbs. Basic Qualifications • High school diploma or GED. • Employee must have basic computer skills and may be required to enter and verify information into written forms or database(s) as appropriate. • Average 8 months; Includes 4 months through 1 year. • Must be capable of gaging and inspecting parts. • Basic ability in shop math skills.

Machinist - Large Lathe 1st and 2nd Shift

JOB SUMMARY: The Machinist – Large Lathe is responsible for performing precision machining operations to produce high quality parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical controlled (CNC) large lathe machine. This includes turning precision parts up to 63 inches in diameter x 40 feet long. The Machinist – Large Lathe troubleshoots, diagnoses, and makes mechanical adjustments and repairs as needed and inspects products to blueprint specifications. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: • None ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, CAD files, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters. • Determines the fixtures, attachments, and tools necessary to complete jobs according to specifications and mount them to machine prior to beginning cutting. • Sets-up CNC lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, and stops using appropriate gauges and fixtures to check and assure all work and dimensional specs are met. • Programs and operates mills and lathes by entering instructions and monitoring operations. • Verifies incoming work orders for correct material. • Maintains specifications by observing machines operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls, adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes. • Monitors machine temperatures, ensures that machine has adequate warm-up and cool-down time between jobs and replaces coolant periodically. • Calculates requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry. • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions. • Recognizes improper machine functioning and defects in machinery, measuring instruments or equipment and immediately addresses the problem. • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements. • Uses a wide variety of precision measuring instruments; maintains accurate dimensional tolerances based upon drawings. • Maintains safe operation by adhering to safety procedures and protocols. • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs. • Meets production output goals, ensures quality of all machined parts. • Functions autonomously and in a team environment. • Maintains a clean and safe working area. Requirements: REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: • High school diploma or equivalent required. • 2-year technical college degree preferred. • Minimum 5 years’ related CNC large lathe experience preferred. • Spray welding experience a plus. • Ability to program on the machine using Fanuc control. • Experience with rigging using large bridge cranes. • Knowledge of proper use of measuring tools/gauges and cutting tools. • Must be able to read and understand blueprints and routings. • Strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills. • Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance. • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm. • Must pass a post-employment offer drug screen and background check.
