CNC Machinist Location: Haverhill, MA Employment Type: Full-Time Shift: 1st Shift: 7am-3:30pm with OT Position Summary Join us and be part of a team dedicated to delivering precision and excellence. Position Overview As a CNC Horizontal Machinist, you will set up and operate CNC horizontal machining centers according to engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions. Key Responsibilities Select, install, and align tooling, fixtures, and workpieces. Adjust machine settings and offsets to optimize machining processes and maintain part quality. Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.). Interpret complex drawings and GD&T specifications. Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions as needed. Accurately complete production and quality documentation. Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment, adhering to all safety protocols. Other duties as assigned What You Bring (Core Competencies) Strong technical knowledge of horizontal machining operations and best practices. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and GD&T. Skilled in using precision measurement tools for verifying dimensions. Ability to independently diagnose and solve machining problems. High attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship. Effective communication skills and a collaborative team approach. Flexibility to adapt in a fast-paced, high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (GED). 2+ years of experience operating CNC horizontal machining centers. Ability to set up, operate, and make minor program edits. Familiarity with machining plastics and aluminum materials. Basic computer literacy for documentation and data entry. Preferred Qualifications Completion of a CNC machining certificate program or formal apprenticeship. 5+ years of CNC horizontal machining experience, preferably in a custom manufacturing environment. Experience with large, complex part machining. Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality standards and processes. Familiarity with advanced machining strategies and tooling optimization. Work Environmental & Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods (8+ hours). Regularly lift and maneuver parts/materials up to 25 pounds. Fine motor skills and manual dexterity to handle small components and tools. The ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, shoes, gloves, and hearing protection.
