In this role you will get to make an impact on an important Navy mission. What You'll Be Doing: • Create program instructions for machine cutting utilizing MasterCam • Generate CNC programs, with and without programming software, using the correct speeds, feeds, and depths of cuts appropriate for the material being machined. • Develop and Maintain MasterCam Parts and Tooling library. • Set-up and operate CNC machines to produce precision parts to drawing specifications. • Monitor the speeds and feeds of CNC machines during the machining process. • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics, machine shop theories, and instruments, including but not limited to, micrometers and vernier calipers. • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto the machines. • Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in the machining processes. • Work with team to create efficiencies, improve automation, and increase machining flexibility • Use knowledge of tooling, machinery, and attention to detail to follow specific standards and reach tight tolerances • Maintain the CNC machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and documented machining procedures. • Measure and examine completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications. • Participate in Research & Development activities as required. • Read and interpret ASME Drawings • Perform all tasks as required of a Safety Sensitive position. • Complete all paperwork in required manner and time frame. • Demonstrate a willingness to learn to produce new products, use new procedures, and embrace and support change. • Assist the Machine Shop Supervisor in making recommendations with the goal of reducing cycle times, improving machine scheduling, and/or increasing Safety. • Frequent use of CNC Machining equipment such as lathes, mills, and saws. • Frequent use of computer equipment to include but not limited to laptop computer, monitors, keyboard, mouse, scanner, and printer. • Frequent use of company designated software programs to include but not limited to project time tracking software, and office productivity software packages. • Immediately and directly impacts quality of product through machining processes and setups. • Indirectly impacts customer satisfaction through component quality, appearance, fit, and on-time delivery. • What Required Skills You'll Bring: • Demonstrated knowledge of CNC Programming using multiple platforms including Fanuc, Haas and MasterCam. • Ability to operate all shop equipment. • Strong leadership, organizational, and planning skills • Detail oriented, creative, and tech-savvy • Analytical and problem-solving skills • Ability to effectively coach and train employees. • Safely operate machining and manufacturing equipment • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects daily in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. • Ability to speak, write and read English. • Able to work independently or as part of a team on a broad variety of projects. • Willingness to work additional hours to meet tight deadlines What Desired Skills You'll Bring: • Experience with the Navy Security Clearance Requirement: A security clearance is not required to apply; however, the selected candidate must be able to obtain a Secret clearance which requires U.S. citizenship, prior to the start date. Job Title: CNC Machinist This is a skilled trade position requiring advanced knowledge of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining processes.
