Machinist Lead/Supervisor - Extrusion Tooling

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for providing technical expertise through a combination of individual contributions and leadership to a team of machinists and technicians in support of the production of die and tooling packages that support the extrusion plants within Andersen Windows. The shop is in Huntington, WV. This leader will be responsible for supporting the team through hands on engagement and leadership via various responsibilities, while executing an annual strategy focused on operational excellence, reducing waste, and eliminating variation within our manufacturing processes. Candidates for this position should have energy and passion to improve both our production and functional processes while leading with integrity. This position ensures that the assigned team is operating in accordance with Andersen’s values, employee covenant, and strategic direction. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Coordinating with Tooling Engineers and Designers • Author specific work instructions. • Coordinates internal tooling fabrication from engineering designs. • Coordinates shop-floor efforts to develop and improve new and existing tooling. • Prioritizes, coordinates, and directs Maintenance activities. • Coordinates with Maintenance associates to identify PM requirements for new and existing processes and equipment. • Collaborates with development, engineering, scheduling, production, and facility engineering on improvement programs for the areas supported. • Trains production associates and supervisors on process changes, work methods, and reporting. • Coordinates and oversees Safety and EHS needs for the site. • Oversee and maintains production schedule. • Manages site inventory and material/supply ordering. • Drive continuous improvement, improve customer satisfaction, reduce waste, and eliminate variation in processes • Drive corrective action through root cause identification and structured problem solving • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to gain alignment within cross functional team • Identify, recruit, and onboard talent as needed • Establish an environment conducive to teamwork, high morale, employee satisfaction, and performance MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS: • 10+ years of job-related training and experience. • Extensive knowledge of machining processes • Strong leadership, problem-solving, decision making, and human relation skills. • Highly motivated and able to work and lead in a team environment. • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines • Strong oral and written communication skills • Strong interpersonal administration, planning and coordination skills. • Capable of using CAD program (AutoCad) and Microsoft Office applications. • Strong commitment to be a highly collaborative servant leader in all aspects of the role • Solid coaching and people development skills • Collaborative, proactive communicator; effective both 1:1 and in groups • Demonstrates continued personal growth and development. Job Title: Machine Operator 1 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Department: Operations Reports to: Assistant Manager, Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE: Machine Operator 1 (MO1) is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing company railway maintenance and inspection equipment. This position can operate Loram’s on track MOW equipment and/or on track vehicles with supervision in both operating and travel modes. In this role you may be assigned to various types of equipment platforms dependent on business needs and demands. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Safety Focused • Ability to lead a comprehensive and appropriate job briefing during operations shifts, maintenance shifts, and while conducting maintenance tasks. • Consistently follows safe work processes, procedures and rules • Understands on track safety and can explain specifics when asked • Able to locate all emergency equipment and demonstrate correct operation Machine Operations and Technical Knowledge • Conducts machine inspections to identify problems, defects, changes, and hazards and communicates conditions to the operator or supervisor and performs common repairs as instructed. Aurora - Minimum of 1 year computer or technology background. 1 year of working knowledge working with MS Windows. Preferred radiation experience.
