Shift: 1st, Monday – Friday, 6am – 2pm Job Summary and Mission: Responsible for performing all necessary functions in accordance with standard practices and procedures and/or instructions to operate or tend furnaces to melt metal before the casting or atomization process. Key Job Responsibilities: • Regulate supplied energy to heat furnaces and adjust temperatures. • Draw smelted metal samples from furnace for analysis and calculate types and amounts of materials needed to ensure that materials meet specifications. • Observe and record data using various instruments such as pyrometers, gas analyzers, meters, and charts. • Weigh materials to be charged into furnaces, using scales. • Record production data and maintain production logs, both paper and electronic. • Observe air and temperature gauges or metal color and fluidity and adjust controls to maintain required temperatures. • Operate controls to move or discharge molten metal from furnaces. • Inspect furnaces and equipment for defects and wear, assuring that furnaces are always in safe working condition. • Maintain, rebuild and/or reline pouring pots, ladles, furnaces as needed. • Prepare material to load into furnaces. • Remove impurities from the surface of molten metal using strainers. • Clean complete system to avoid contamination from other products. • Resolve issues related to production, machinery, and/or processing operations. Education: • Must have High school diploma or general equivalent diploma. Required Skills: • Commitment to working safely and ability to understand and follow all safety procedures. • Technical understanding of furnace operation and components. • Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs to furnace equipment. • Ability to monitor temperatures, pressure, and other critical parameters. • Skilled in maintaining accurate logs of operation, maintenance, and safety checks. • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to furnace operation. • Capability to perform manual labor and stand for long periods. • Ability to work collaboratively with other operators and staff in a manufacturing environment. • Ability to communicate effectively with team members.
