Machine Operator

Rolling Mill Operator PAY RATE: $20/hour SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday 7am – 430pm LOCATION: Glens Falls, NY JOB SUMMARY: Operators are responsible for the operation of rolling mills and secondary equipment used in industry to produce quality metal strip. This includes, but is not limited to, setting up and operating mills and other supporting equipment to meet quality standards and customer specifications of the product. You will work as part of a team, collaborating with other operators and skilled workers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Operating and monitoring production equipment and processes to ensure they are working properly and adjust as needed to keep it operating safely and efficiently without interruptions. • Setting up equipment according to product specifications. • Monitor production parameters, including gauge thickness, speed, tension, temperature as well as inspection of finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and product specifications. • Maintaining work orders on both production router and/or in ERP systems to accurately record data and track material used through the production process. • Maintain a safe, clean and well-organized workspace. • Support a safety culture by following all safety rules. • Proactively cooperate in shop floor fine scheduling of Strip Department to optimize throughput, quality and OTD. • Provide Preventive Maintenance of rolling mills, as well as other supporting equipment in the department and corresponding tooling to minimize unplanned downtime due to maintenance or tooling problems. • Support ISO 9001 (Quality) and ISO 14001 (EH&S) Management System Processes. EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS • HS Diploma or GED Required. • Experience in machine operation within a manufacturing environment, preferably rolling mills or similar machinery. • Excellent mechanical and logical thinking, able to do simple maintenance and repairs. • Attention to detail; Ability to use measuring equipment such as calipers and micrometers and read and record data accurately as required. 9938205
