Machine Operator- Stone Thermal line Swenson Granite currently has an opening for a Machine Operator – Stone Thermal line in our Production Plant at our Barre, VT location. This position is responsible for handling sawn slabs to be loaded with an overhead crane onto the thermal line. The operator will then feed slabs into the thermal machine, which adds our textured finish to slabs for our landscape products. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Use both automated and manually operated machinery to produce a variety of stone landscaping products. • Load and feed slabs into the thermal machine. • Ensure dimensions are correct using a tape measure. • Identify imperfections related to the production process. • Use overhead crane to move slabs. • Keep stone slabs and work area clean through the use of a low-pressure water hose. • Perform cleaning and autonomous maintenance of the thermal machine. • Prioritize safety by following all procedures and regulations policy. • Other duties may be assigned. Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, push and pull-on conveyors within the parameters of their work-release status. At all times the employee will be provided with the opportunity to use either a crane to lift loads or seek assistance from another employee to complete a task that would otherwise compromise their recovery. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Training: We offer training that will advance your knowledge, skills, and abilities within the industry.
